Carte blanche aka pick your best team to save your job. Muller straight back in, Hassell to right back, Foster alongside Souza, Kozluk at left back, midfield of JCR, Howard, De Silva & Devaney. ODJ and Hume up front. And a captain from within with the maturity and desire to actually want to lead and encourage a team.
That's the first 11, that I think can compete in the championship. Will never happen with Davey though, first he'd have to admit that he's got it wrong.
Thing is The impression I get is that there are certain players that will never be dropped. That team is mine as well, but until Steele has a bad run of form he can't be replaced. I don't think Muller would make things any better at the mo.
I'd have made more substitutions but I said at half time that Leon might be a good option in midfield and to push JCR further forward. He was spot on in his assessment of our set pieces, practise corners all week and then produce that, he cant kick the ball for them. His signings this summer have been mostly disappointing, including those on loan. How much of that is down to budget and how much choice, Im not sure. But Davey's shown determination and ability to turn things round in the face of adversity before, we've been in this situation and turned it round, Im hoping he's able to do it again.
RE: I listened to Radio Sheffield's phone in last night until I went out of range JCR? Their wide players were fantastic last night, he would be in the reserves at Cardiff. Apart from his obvious commitment to the cause and tireless work rate, JCR has nothing to offer. He's symptomatic of the team at the minute, no quality when it matters. It's all well and good doing fancy step overs, getting away from defenders (which he does well), but if he can't do anything when he gets there then there's no point. He'd still make my team at the minute though, because he's one of the only one's worth his money, but to say he's a good player is way off the mark. He can't cross a ball and he's a wide player. And when he was on the left last night, they kept showing him the line and every time he came back inside. This is before mentioning how ball greedy he was he had the overlap. I don't want this to seem as though I am against the player. He plays for Barnsley and I support him while ever he wears the red, but when people think he's the bees knees I just wonder if people want to see this "huff and puff" instead of incisive football. And when your manager is saying ***** like this: "We were not good enough in the first half but in the second we huffed and puffed without getting any luck" then there's no hope. The impression I've got over the last couple of seasons is that we are waiting for a break to score a goal. Waiting for a mistake from the opposition. Huffing and puffing and waiting for luck is no way to go. Cardiff weren't looking for luck in the 1st half; they cut us open at will with great movement and great skill and we couldn't live with them. We looked good in the first two minutes. And then we got hammered. End of rant.
I thought you meant he'd shown he can turn a game before because apart from Derby who hadn't won a game for over a year I don't remember Davey ever changing a game (for the better) Agreed that he cant kick the ball for them but after the first 5 bad corners he can quite easily tell howard to take them instead, he totally failed to do that which again goes back to the other point of him not being able to turn a game. That's why we hardly ever draw because when we go behind he doesnt know how to get us back into it.
So.... ...another shitload of players bought this summer, and you'd only include one of them in our best team (and I think you're pretty close on our best XI by the way, I wouldn't disagree with you on that). If you were writing the cheques wouldn't you be a little bit pissed off that your money was being consistently spunked on cack players?
Muller seems to get the crowd going he's that kind of eccentric personality and charismatic type to inspire, generates a bit of atmos and his distribution is arguably more potent than Steele. Howard should take note, a leader of men not only sets an example but encourages those around to raise their game. Needs to get rid of the negativity in his body language, forget the contract debacle and start taking more responsibility for the performance of the team around him. Maybe with Andersen next to him he'll remember the form that got his face plastered all over the media.
RE: I listened to Radio Sheffield's phone in last night until I went out of range That's because Blackpool is a ming mong magnet.
Howard shouldn't be captain Not cos I don't rate him, but I don't think the responsibility helps his game.
Foster or Moore if we're persisting with him. Moore also has a few quiet words with refs - bit of pillock now and again always helps for those 50/50 decisions.

Forgive my maths but I think we spunked some of the Cup money on Hume, and picked up 3 others for next to f.ck all. I'd be upset with myself for opening my mouth in the papers with a load of significant nonsense, heaping pressure on the guy and consequently finding myself in a position where Im under pressure to find the brass to pay up a the remainder of a 4 year contract and god knows what else to find a replacement that will want a big clearout.
RE: Thing is And he kept us in the game first half.
He might just have got his boots mixed up.
