If the signings were that good And the squad is so much stronger, why are we still down the bottom of the division? And why have we fewer points than we had after this many games last season? Football is all about results and we've consistently got results that leave us in the bottom third of the division since Davey has been in charge. His many signings have seen very little improvement at all. Davey's signings are alright, nothing more.
rome wasn't built in a day and even if it was, we haven't got the finances to go out and buy a team to challenge for top spot. Its a case of holding onto the good players, Muller, JCR, Foster, Da Silva, Colace and building a squad round them hopefully finding a couple of more nuggets every time the window opens.
I agree, things take time I'm just saying his signings aren't that great otherwise we'd be doing a lot better. As it is, we're doing pretty similar to how we did under Davey when we just had the promotion squad that was put together for 10 bob and a conker.
My original point on this was that if Davey didn`t think Letheren was up to the task he should have brought in another keeper long before the Muller injury. He would have got a keeper he wanted and been happy with and would not have cost us the amount that Steele cost us. Again I will re-iterate that I like Luke Steele and this is not about him its the money he cost. Also Luke Steele`s performance against Liverpool was maybe the best goalkeeping display I have seen from a Barnsley keeper.
I think the standard of the squad has improved a lot unfortunately the rest of the championship has improved in equal if not greater measure
RE: If the signings were that good jay you after look at the bigger picture .our cup run last season deffo hamperd are league form.this season the loss 0f howards goals.us star striker getting taken out, a club like ours cant replace qualitey like that easiley .deveany going to be out for 10 weeks. all these niggling injurys need to be taken into count. the season we got promoted to prem we had for most a settled team and only steve davis had a serious. where do think we would of ended that season if blunts had took are skipper redfearn and john hendry had picked up a serious injury and didnt play most of season. 24 clubs all want the same and there is very thin line to sucess and faliure. and big chunk off luck is needed at times
ok babe . we had to signed steele or wba wouldnt let us have him, as for letheren he will be on peanuts and maybe one for the future
he went with Muller as main keeper and thought he'd be number one all season. Injury struck and he had to fill the gap and in my opinion he did it well. We now have two class keepers 'by accident' but he had no choice but to sign Steele. I thought Muller may go this window but as he's now cup tied I'm not so sure. Bit unfortunate for Steele as he's a Championship keeper but good for us !!!

No it aint going in is it. Babe, you gay bleeder, your having a laugh. Proves that you dont read other posts.
probly explains why steele only signed a one year contract, as im sure davey would have sat down with him, and told him, "look, you're going to be playing for now, but as soon as heinz is fit, he'll be playing, as he is the number one keeper"
I don't buy that argument at all If the standard of the Championship improved every year as many people on here will have you believe then every team would be playing perfect football by now. Imho our 81/82 and 96/97 teams would still murder the majority of sides in this division.
