What a magical player. And interesting to think that....... ......all of that footage bar one goal was from his "disappointing" second spell! Makes me think that it wasn't just the rose-tinted glasses of childhood which has him in my mind as the most exciting Barnsley player I've ever seen.
Good point. Completely agree. Although you can lead a jackass to water, but you can't make him drink.
Nah, Currie doesn't go off. Could have just put it in the freezer. Or had it cold the following morning.
I thought the same mate. I was a little too young to appreciate him if i'm honest. Unfortunately, I never saw his first spell with us so feel I missed out on that front.
That was a really nice thing to do and the rest of it was brilliant is Howard the closest thing we've got to a red hot currie??
RE: What a magical player. And interesting to think that....... the goal that sticks out for me was the one he scored at stoke in the cup, didn,t in till half time he controlled it with one foot and hammered it in with the other, magical player at his best!
For me, the ones that really stick in the mind are the screamer against Birmingham in torrential rain, where we'd hammered them all game but Les Sealey (rip) had been in inspired form in their net. Currie comes on with 15 minutes left, runs down the right wing, cuts inside onto his left foot and curls a screamer into the top corner (also from his "crap" second spell). Also, the last goal of his first spell in a quagmire-esque FA Cup match at Filbert St holds special memories as is was my first ever away game. Oh, and his four goals against Bournemouth. David Currie, I salute you. Wonder what he's doing now though......
