Fixing the 'spine' was the memory that stands out for me with Dave Bassett in charge, and that didn't work out too badly. Prior to the play-off season he brought in Kevin Miller, Steve Chettle, Geoff Thomas and Neil Shipperley to do exactly that, and it pretty much put his stamp on that team very quickly. I don't know much about Fox, but from a quick browse of the Norwich forum that someone linked to it sounds like he can do the role that Stephen McPhail used to do for us. Short, simple stuff in the middle of the park which stops us from losing/wasting possession.
Re: Lets hope he doesnt spoilt it at right back I was winding SM up over Wiseman, and p-taking a bit with the team selection
Re: Lets hope he doesnt spoilt it at right back Well I liked it & thought it was funny. Which must be worrying for you, if you're on my wavelength!
Re: Listening to his 19 minute interview on audioboo Disagree. He's the one player every other side picks out. No coincidence that he's been poor this season and so have we. Sets our tempo but still limited. Needs some creativity alongside him - hes our defensive midfielder but being asked to be more than that.
I'm going to put you in a bad mood Got my eyes tested yesterday. At Optical Express! I know I should have gone with an independent, but I got a voucher off t'internet to get it done for free. Made the assistant laugh when she was filling in the paper work: "When was your last eye test?" "About 25 years ago." She didn't have a box on her form for that. Eyes tests have certainly moved on. A whole manner of gadgets and devices. What the **** is that thing that shoots air in to your eyes and when did they start using that b'astard? Scared the bejesus out of me. Optician was actually a really nice bloke. Knew he would be by his suit. I capped him though. "Can you read the top line?" "I can read the bottom line - P T R S" "Right, next one, can you read the top line on there?" "I can read the bottom line - K V P R" "It is yes. Are you wearing binoculars?" So, perfect eyesight apparently. Pity the rest of me of me is ******. With my eyes and somebody else's everything else we'd make a fine team.
If Watford are a benchmark Perkins isnt good enough, their midfield just passed the ball around him, I rate him for his energy and breaking up play but I get the distinct impression that Flitcroft has realised that 'endeavour' on its own will not get us where he's been told to get us so technical ability & attitude will be the prerequisite in midfield, I could be totally wrong, but Fox coming in signals intent.
Re: If Watford are a benchmark I agree entirely. But I think he's the most likely to be able to play in a 4 next to a midfielder that can do a bit of everything. I think Kelvin & Dawson are the most limited of the 3.
Re: Just read the article about you Haven't got a Chron yet, but looking forward to reading it. I hope you were severely interrogated about the ginger beard.
Re: Just read the article about you F.ck all wrong with my beard. No interrogation but I did fail to get 'endeavour' in.
Im really disappointed with Etuhu so far this season I saw glimpses last season of him in central midfield and got excited, Flitcroft talked him up saying he'll be a monster when he's fully fit and consequently I expected more, maybe its still early but he doesnt warrant being picked at the moment. We also seem to be waiting an age for Digby to get fit which after the preseason excitement is another disappointment, add that to the fact that Jennings hasnt featured and Mellis seems to be in and out, probably in the process of being "broken down", again, so I can see why there's frustration that we're playing Perkins and Dawson still. But fair play to Flitcroft for doing something about it if its not happening. On paper and on FIFA, we should already have a great midfield, wish it were as simple as that.
Re: I'm going to put you in a bad mood ----------------Hassell----------------- Butland ---- Etuhu -- Ramage ---- M'Voto C'OG ---- Scotland -- Daggers ---- Jennings ---------- Dawson ---- Perks ----------- #ureds
Re: Im really disappointed with Etuhu so far this season Agree. Although I never saw the fuss with Etuhu. He was great when we had our backs to the wall and he just had to press and sit back but he's properly limited when he gets on the ball. Even more so than Dawson. For me, Perkins is a good solid Championship midfielder. He's being asked to be a bit more creative alongside Dawson/Kelvin and that's not him. But take him back a step and just ask him to do his job he's the best of the three. With Digby I'm disappointed he got thrown in at Blackpool and then he's nowhere to be seen. Same with Jennings, start at Forest and then why not put him on instead of McCourt for another 30 minutes when the game's gone? Need some consistency and just to settle the f.ck down.
Re: Im really disappointed with Etuhu so far this season And start trying to play football again. Or at least pick a style of play for 90 minutes
