As a matter of fact I thought we were decent the other night, problem was Blackpool played us off the park, it wouldn't have mattered if Davies had been Alan Sheerer, we probably would have lost, BUT, we had some great chances, and when your striker is one-on-one with the keeper, he has to hit the target even if the keeper saves it, I had a great view of Davies dragging his shot wide and it looked w%&*k. There you go, you might not like it but thats the deal he fluffed his lines big style. Not for the first time in that game, or others for that matter.
His winner at Peterborough, hit it first time on the volley, with power and right in the corner, the best touch I've seen all season from a Barnsley Player
What about his finishes against Donny, one on one and a deft flick/volley? His finish close up, rebound at Leeds? His great goal at Peterbro? His free-kick against Ipswich, and penalty? He scores alsorts of goals, and we havent had a CF like that for years. Ok, so he missed 2 or 3 one on ones before finally breaking his duck. But he was unfit. And since then, he has missed 1 to my knowledge against Ipswich, and yesterday where he was hardly 'one on one' tbf to him. It was Done that had the easier chance. The fact that a few of you are choosing to have a go at a striker at this level, with 8 in 10, is quite sad to read really... I love the lad, and tbh, he is not a target man, and I reckon in a 2 with Haynes or Vaz Te, he would flourish further still. How long did it take Odejayi, Macken, Gray, Hume or Bogdanovic even, to score 8 goals as a reds striker??
You had me there up to the bit about Andy Gray being a good exponent of holding the ball up... Jesus I would much rather have my 6 year old son up front than him, he'd probably hold it up front for longer. Andy Gray is without a doubt the biggest waste of money this club has ever spent. And thats including the 300k spackman spent on Peter Sand.
