I heavily distrust people with two second names (sorry Jackson Smith), but three is just obscene.

Think if he was to come here it wouldn't be before the first game of the season.. Nigel Clough is a bit too experienced for that..

But the he'd be leaving it until the last few weeks of the window to try and replace him.

If you're going to lose your best players, you want to lose them as early as possible.

Do most people Google before they comment or is it just me who hasn't got a encyclopedic knowledge of league 2 midfielders not a clue who he is but seems positive from those in the know.

As encouraging as this is, Pete O'Rourke's track record is even more questionable than Alan Nixon's.

When I was a lad only posh people had two surnames, what's the world coming to when common folk have them.

You get thrown in jail if you have one surname, these days.

He puts out typical journalist rubbish, eg ‘Barnsley and other clubs have interest in x player’, but if he reports on something more definitive it generally is true.

Looking back he’s posted a fair bit that’s happened. Williams to Portsmouth, Shepherd to Cheltenham, Kitching to Coventry, Earl, Dallas, etc.

I don't think we can grumble too much if one or two midfielders do leave. Connell, Russell (who I think will become a real selection problem with Connell this season), Phillips, Benson (surely he can stay fit), Styles, Wolfe and Hourahane is a strong squad in the middle. There'll be Chapman pushing for starts too.

It's a big season for Benson going into the last year of his contract

There’s some good options there. But Hourihane has said he doesn’t see himself playing much and Benson/Wolfe are notoriously injury prone. Assume styles will leave. So it only really leaves Connell/Phillips/Russell if we sign another that allows for some rotation either in or between games. So I don’t think game time will be a huge problem.

Don't forget Vimal Yoganathan too, who everytime I've seen play, looks a proper player. I'd love for him to have a breakthrough season this year. Given he'll be tutored by Conor, there's a good chance of it.

So you don't want us to put bids in for good players even if there's a reasonable chance we won't get them?
If we went straight for players we can definitely get from two or three leagues below there would be folk on here going mental....again.

Agreed. Expecting him to slyly open a solicitors firm any minute, like Jonson Clarke Harris LLP.

What I'm saying is it's a rinse repeat thing every year. When it's reported that we've had a bid rejected you know when fees are involved we won't be signing him.Book Mark my words,I'll be amazed if we now sign this guy.
