My only problem and worry is that we're so thread bare at the moment with 2/3 of the young uns were undoubtably gonna rely on next season as regular first teamers seem unable to stay injury free.

Coupled with that, am I wrong in saying we're losing players who we all (when in the Championship) referred to them as L1 players. Well that's who we are now. I trust Danny to unearth a 'diamond' or two. But when signing 10-15 players as the clubs quoted, anything rivalling a 50% success rate IMHO would be considered very good. Then we're back where we started. Players who can't cut it in L1 on 2-3 year contracts......

We'll see like. DW has probably the toughest task in best part of 20 years of been a gaffer

Yes they will...there is every year and we'll get ours in pecking order, at the end of August or as free agents in September- October, like we always do. Then we'll get the old..he'll be fine when he's fit, he's not had a pre-season you know.

So do i bud, but Ben talks like a politician , says one thing, but reality says something else...I think if JOB turns us down, then get ready. That will say more about our intention next season than owt Ben comes out with

    Hope he stays, we'll see

Kinda agree, but the football world will keep turning either with or without us. I wunt get too caught up in the QPR Leicester, Man City and Chelsea. Its a party that we'll never be invited, different world altogether....I personally don't mind league 3. been to Scunny Oldham and Crewe lot more than Old Trafford and the likes.
My only hope is that most people get a big dose of reality before next season, go with no expectations, cos they'll be some that if we're not top from day one they'll be hell on.Think it ill be hard enough to be in the 8.

I won't be partying at this news, I reckon he'd have been great at League 1. It's not his fault he was signed to play for a Championship club, but struggled, at least he always gave it his all (hence people calling him a toiler), I reckon his 'toiling' at League 1 would have been plenty good enough.

Agree 100%, folk called him a L1 player. Was player of season at that level. No one doubted his effort. All said he wasnt worth a championship shirt. Well none of our players have one of them now! I'm not even a big fan of Daws but I'd have welcomed him next season.

One thing I don't quite buy into in all this (and I get the feeling I'm in the minority) is this 'he'd be good in league 1' nonesense. Unless he develops the ability to control a ball, pass a ball, cross a ball, not get caught out of position and run around like a bear with a sore head I don't think he'd be up to much in any division. Dropping down a division doesn't give you some divine right to go from being rubbish for two seasons to some sort of player. Great work ethic but in reality offers nothing more than a decent pair of lungs.

Except the last time he was there for Orient, he was player of the season.

Wasn't that an Orient team near relegation though? They haven't been at the top end of that division all that long.

I only heard about this an hour ago, one part of me felt a bit bad that he'd rejected us, but the other felt glad that I would no longer have to put up with watching such a limited player who doesn't seem to have any redeeming aspects to his game. We'll no doubt find someone equally bad to fill his shoes but he'll cost half as much a week so everyone's a winner.

No, they were top half & challenging for play offs & he won player of the year.

A few on here say he's not good enough for league one but he clearly is or he wouldn't have got the award whilst playing for them.

It's the equivalent of me saying Lallana or Coleman aren't good enough to play in the prem despite been player of the year in a top half side.

I'm still happy to see him go cos of this court case but I wouldn't be at all surprised if his replacement is even worse.

I stand corrected on the league position. But I'm afraid I'll have to disagree on his merits. I think he's garbage.

I know what you're saying pal but he's replaceable, his effort and passion are evident and I think this is what has won him awards, ability-wise he's average. There must be ten times this season he's broke through one-on-one with the keeper and not scored, I know that's not his role as such but he's not excelled at any aspect of being a midfielder apart from running around and looking p*ssed off.

Goes without saying that I am over the moon that one of the worst midfielders to ever wear the red shirt won't be here next season.

However, it doesn't wave a magic wand. I'm still questioning Wilson's judgement for playing him so much last season and for offering him a new deal. What I'm really concerned about is the fact that Dawson, as useless as he is, thinks he can do better than what we have offered. Was the offer "very competitive" Ben?

Even with a court case hanging over him he feels he can get a better deal elsewhere, so like you say you wonder just how competitive we are compared to what's coming out of the club.
