The back three bring the ball forward too far into midfield then there's a pile up and someone drops a boll ock. Too isolated at times when Gent or O'Keefe bomb forward too. As Russell or Connell don't track across.
That's a good point except no, we're not. We're joint 4th with Stockport and Reading. So pretty much exactly where we should be versus league position. You are right though that goals conceded are an issue. We're joint 14th for that.
I think that our lack of goals from our Number 9 means we need to play more attacking midfielders - which then exposes the back 4 a little bit. Thats my theory anyway.
I can agree with that to a degree, but you should be able to coach rotation. Connell and Russell can empty midfield meaning one pass kills us. Then you have Earl and DeGevigny who can bring the ball out too far and break our shape if we then lose it, particularly with fullbacks advanced too. I only watched the Bristol goals back this morning and the third one in particular is awful. Granted we're chasing the game at that point, but it's maybe testimony that even when we have bodies to cover, we don't always get them doing their basics well.
We don’t keep clean sheets. And we are not the Daniel season where that didn’t matter. Without tightening up at the back and a better keeper we will struggle so we have to balance where we spend. A loan forward and a purchased one if we can off load Cosgrove and a keeper.
To be fair the stendel season we had a great defence even when Moore got injured and the goals dried up abit the defence was pretty solid.
Yeah it was pretty good but we could have been letting 3 a week in and we would still have won for most of that season.
