But Portsmouth deliberately cheated to get the winner at Burton, who fair play to them have given the top teams a run for their money! So no if they got 2nd they wouldn't deserve to go up imo.
I have enjoyed the Quest highlights this year and think they have started to do it well. Warnock was very supportive last week. Ashton is a bit of a plank though.
To be fair they tend to like to balance opinions out in these shows. And even so it’s a fair opinion. It’s hardly beyond the realms of possibility for Portsmouth to win two home games and us only get a point at Bristol for example. I’d love Peterborough to get summat Tuesday to put it to bed properly. There’s no chicken counting going on in our house just yet.
Without wishing to denigrate Dean Ashton's opinion, I just wondered to myself when I heard his comment on Quest, how many" full" Barnsley games has he watched this season.? Given the respective form of ourselves and Bristol Rovers this season, I thought that his assumption that we would lose on Saturday simply because we are away, was rather wide of the mark. Our lads have performed very well all season. They faced extreme adversity when they lost Kieffer Moore and a key player in the very impressive Kenny Dougall. Blows of that magnitude would have blown many a team off course, but to their credit, these young lads were not fazed and battled on to retain second place. I honestly think this week, will be all about trying to relax, enjoy training, a massage by the Physios ,making sure they eat well, in readiness for half five on Saturday. Daniels words in today's Mirror sum everything up for me. He rightly says " We cannot take anything for granted after achieving pole position for automatic promotion. I assume we have to win on Saturday. We cannot influence other games. I think our rivals will win their games anyway." I am hopeful we can settle down from the start of Saturday's game and get the three points needed to get us back into the Championship. After what has been a long arduous season, surely it's the least that we will have earned and genuinely deserved.?
This. I tried not to like it because of Colin Murray. But, I was wrong, Murray has been excellent. Luckily, i’ve still been able to be a bit sneery because the quality of pundits (the excellent Sam Parkin aside) is awful. None worse than Holloway. He’s either got a drink/drug problem or in the early stages of dementia.
Colin Murray seems properly supportive of all teams in the lower leagues and knows something about them which is more than a lot of pundits!
Colin Murray has my respect for one particular decision he made. He is an avid Liverpool fan. In 2013, he left a very well paid job with Radio 5 live, to take over the programme slot at Talksport previously hosted by the disgraced Richard Keys and Andy Gray. In July 2016, Murray announced that because News Corporation had acquired Talksport, due to News Corps link to the Sun newspaper ,the latters coverage of the Hillsborough disaster and his love for Liverpool FC, he regretted, that his position at the station had become untenable and true to his word, he duly quit.
He can't be that interested in every football club he covers though? Does he really have that much emotional attachment to all the clubs he covers on a saturday? He'll be an emotional wreck when he retires. So much spent energy.
