Could well be, in the pre-presser for tonight's game he said it was an opportunity for people to come in and stake a claim, not one of them looked bothered

You're forgetting Darren Barnard in the prem season

I accept that. But it’s not the point. Neither meets my definition of a winger. Although, to be fair, I was brought up watching the likes of Earnshaw and Hampstead et al!

I still maintain that (and I said this last season) that cotter would be a right winger in a 442 (with a decent defender behind him) or right of a 42'3'1/43'3'.... ' ' being the position.
He may not score goals and sometimes end product a bit off, but he can certainly cause carnage.

Defence wise not the best, but, this season has shown a massive increase in his defensive side. So could actually turn out to he a decent wing back given more time.

Lofthouse I've not seen enough of, but I have seen enough that he has the ability to give Cotter a run for his money.

Trouble is, as we have been crying out for as long as I remember, we have absolutely zilcho on the left hand side

Eaden and Barnard were the pinnacle but even more recently we've managed to display better wing backs than the current crop we have now.

Give me Bobby Hassell and Carl Dickinson any day.

agree the wing backs we have now play too deep and dont support the forwards enough leaving the forwards too isolated no wonder the strikers are taking stick off the fans when nothing is created for them from wide areas as a striker you want to be facing the oppositions goalkeeper and attacking the ball not playing with your back to goal

I'd manage us to a very high standard for free. Although dog was barking, I walked outside and trod in a turd wearing a flip flop. I don't like Clarke, I don't like stepping in turds or wearing flip flops. Maybe I'm the man for the job :D.

Those 2 names shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as our current crop. This is honestly one of the worst squads I've seen in my 30+ years of watching Barnsley.
