The plan is to play premiership football, if the owners are serious about that then my scenario is more likely than yours.
Is it? That's news to me. I'm not aware the owners have ever said what our objectives are. Nor what their objectives are and why they bought our distressed club at the time.
Well we'll see if Stendel gives interviews what his answers are and his general body language at said interviews. He's certainly not seen a happy chappy since he returned from his summer recess. I'm not being negative, though I sense some people are surprised there are others not on a joyous high. I just massively think the jury is out on everything at the moment give the actions we've seen. I just think hunger gets you so far. Know how will sometimes get you further. You're more likely to gain knowhow over time.
I like Stendel a lot. However, i’m pretty sure he was made fully aware of the club’s strategy of signing younger players when he joined and reminded of it again over the summer. If he’s pissed off (which we don’t actually know) then I’m afraid he’ll have to suck it up. He’s not dealing with something that he wasn’t expecting.
Would you like to go back to the way things were? 4m from Moore would have plugged the deficit and we would have seen **** all today.
To be fair, I don't think any of us thought we'd be selling 26 year olds and finding 19 year olds to replace them. So I can have full sympathy for Stendel in that regard. I doubt he'll suck it up, I suspect he'll just go an earn much more money elsewhere.
The last I recall the owners said was they wanted to establish the team in the championship. That's a long way short of getting into the PL. But we still don't know the motives for buying us, do we?
I watching him jumping around like a big happy kid with a huge smile on his face last Saturday. Seemed to be doing a good impression of happy.
The quote was actually “work our way up the championship”, perhaps they meant to only work our way up to 7th?
Why does everything have to be so black and white and taken to extremes? I'm simply saying I've not enough evidence yet that this strategy is robust, will bring natural progression, and I don't know the motives of the owners still, because they haven't shared them. I cant think of many examples from 30 years of recollection where there have been many sides in the championship with a new squad of largely 19-21 year olds that have done well. That's not being negative. I thought we played some great football on Saturday at times. And if we play like that more, we'll stay up. Great, job 1. But one swallow doesn't make a summer so I'm not getting carried away. And we've seen everything is for sale. My personal view, but that's making my club feel quite soulless to me. I enjoyed last season in the main part... but I can't say i've enjoyed the summer. Again, not negative, just my personal view that I'm not asking anyone else to share.
As a play thing, a side interest, something to do while their money makes them real money. Multi millionaires borrowing £20 million to buy us isn't a big risk and if it comes off... kerching.
Of course he's happy on the touchline. He breathes the game. But his body language to interviews... have you not seen how he's a little more guarded in them compared to last year? Maybe not. But i'd very much suggest watching his interviews. if he was so happy, he'd have signed a contract extension, which I'd absolutely love him to do. He's the best thing that's happened upon our club for over 20 years.
But that's assumption isn't it? We don't know because they won't tell us. Which is fine. Its their prerogative. I'm just not going to paint them as messiahs when there is no evidence to do so. Only time and judging actions will show motive and whether it was a good thing for our club or a bad one.
I guess we will all have to wait and see how it pans out. I am optimistic, I may be disappointed later but I am enjoying the optimism of a new season with a great manager, what looks like a great squad of players and owners who say they are here for the long haul and want us to be successful.
Just a quick comment before I skidaddle for the evening.... Conway said the very same thing about Nice, being there for the long haul. And the last time was just a few weeks before they seem to have accepted Radcliffes offer. Right.... I shall away! Adieu! ;-)
It's not taken to extremes thats the way we were - plugging the deficit. If you want to see the outcome of this strategy look at Brentford, apart from we've got the people who invented it. And you keep going on about your personal view, how many negative replies have you posted tonight? You must have spent the last two hrs on here answering everyone with the same personal drivel. Have a **** or summat. The future is looking very exciting.
