Usually Fridays in the late 70's early 80's...To see bands like Squealer or Rock Theatre, the guitarist in Rock Theatre once came to mend our telly.
Oh and one of the Lads was a massive"Richard and the Taxmen" fan so we usually rocked up to see them aswell.
moff, the guitarist, lives near Benidorm now and has a regular spot at a boozer there, still doing all the Freddie mercury stuff.Their old bass player is in a jazz set up if I remember rightly.
I agree mate,i used to go and watch them whenever they were local, usually reform or darfield bottom club, but we also used to get down west melton aswell.
There was a band called Alibi, they weren't bad either.we would walk home from wombwell often, calling in at Beards or Tongs on the way...Happy "daze"!
ha,Beards chippy,I went to school with one of their lads. I used to booze a fair bit down Brampton/west melton,my first job was at cortonwood and a lot of the lads were from that neck of the woods, many of them being reds fans aswell.
young kids now probably cant see what the draw to the clubs and pubs was,but I'm glad I'm of an age where we didn't miss out on it,turns on three or four times a week, strippers on a sunday dinner session.Waiting for the club doors to open at 7 just to get a table, boozers are empty these days.
