Bit off topic, but with Hemsys insistence of classing a holding midfielder as its own specific position(hes just a midfielder who is instructed to sit deeper ffs), its made me realise i have a new pet hate. And its those who break formation down to more than just 3 number. I mean, for example: 4-2-3-1. Does my titts in. Its a 4-4 effin 2. the two midfielders and wide players are all just traditional midfielders and wingers, and 9times out of 10, the central of the 3 is just a second striker, so its a 4-4 effin 2!

    sorry, rant over...

I'd say 4-2-3-1 is more 4-5-1 but there we go.

You might be right, or a 4-3-3.

But the point still stands...No. of Defender-Number of Midfielder-Number of Forwards.

    3 Numbers!

I fecking hate the term holding/ defensive midfielder. He can either play midfield or he can't. Greening was the absolute bug bear of this. Did nothing but played because someone said sit in front of the back 4 and don't do anything. Money for nowt.

I honestly believe the term was invented by a modern coach who waved to sound like he was inovating. There never used to be holding midfielders. Ball winners along side more creative players, sure, but holding players and handbrake, get f****d!

I agree with you. I wouldn't play with any player as an out & out defensive midfielder. I loved the old school 4-4-2 & great partnership of Brownhill & Hourihane.

Just good to me that Scowen himself says it's his best position given how well he's done as a box to box player

TBH the squad as it stands ...

is a good core unit.. I would like a defender and a mid fielder on a permanent deal to come in... and then use a few loans too.
