In June next year when you and your family is picnicing on a dog **** addled bit of mud in Cawthorne Park because the bowling alley is shut down, the cinemas are shut down, theres no cafes pubs or restaurants. No lazy sundays browsing the town centre cos the shops have gone. No where to wear your best shirt on date night. No sunday league football. No cricket. No Oakwell. No work. No social life. No seeing family or freinds... Would you say the lockdown(s) was worth it?
The genie is out off the bottle it has been since bojo the clown couldn't be arsed to go to briefings on the disease and do something about it before we had a case here. We should have banned anybody coming from China unless they were UK citizens and those from the UK should have been forced to quarantine on return to the country for a month. Bojo has been behind the curve from the begining because he can't beat the illness with waffle and bluster so he's stumped. We are going to have a national lockdown whether bojo the clown announces it or simply because area by area the whole country ends up in tier 3.
Its get up at 5:15 bus to town. Train to work. Do my shift. Bus to Fitzy. Train to Rotherham. Bus up home. Watch In the Night Garden with George. Have my tea and bed. Weekends substitute watch Jeff Stelling and Racing and walk to the park with George and you have my routine for the last few months.
But you couldn't be isolating if you went to Tescos, that's not attacking you it's a fact. And if you find that insulting I genuinely don't know how you manage.
The guidance is really unclear. But it definitely isn't a bowl of olives or a side of chips. Best description is sandwich and main meal menus - so you're not saying people have to have something from a main menu at lunchtime and can have soup or a sandwich. If I was a pub/bar that didn't do food, and I would have done this for Eat Out to Help Out, I'd have been setting up something like a charcuterie counter where you can buy everything in and serve it by the plate. So no kitchen training but a substantial food offer. I've read about some pubs looking to team up with the food offer next door, but I've not seen if that's deemed legal yet.
Next question... do you think it will be policed? Could a pub in effect just roll out buffet food and pass it off?
Pubs are being policed all the time. You had Jay's example of the Market Hall in Barnsley, there's photos of the 'Covid Police' volunteers doing the rounds at 10pm to make sure everyone closes, so you can guarantee there'll be some form of checking. Compliance won't be 100% though, it never is, but if you're a drink-led pub you'll be known as a drink-led pub and it would be fairly obvious if you were open during a Tier Three lockdown.
I think people in my village will just go to the Mill Dam, Ringaroses and Milton pubs then as they're the only three pubs that do meals. Are you limited to only be in the pub for the duration of your meal. I know Greene King did time slots during the eat out promotion.
Olives, Hummus, Bread and Meat. £5 and £10 a plate. Fill your boots. Imagine being able to go to your local pub in August and get a small plate of that for £2.50? Problem is that in the main drink-led pubs are the least innovative outside of karaoke nights, quiz nights, etc.
Horses for courses. Some pubs are doing sittings, but I think the trade is down that much right now that's probably been aborted as a bookings strategy. I am going to guess, but I don't know, that if you go and have a meal and your table doesn't have a time limit you can sit at that table for as long as you like. Unless you're a real food pub where you'll want to turn your tables as often as you can.
It’s definitely something I’d be tempted by. Was out a bit last weekend cos my oven broke and went to Craft and Dough in Kelham island 7pm Friday night only people in there. Old Moor on Saturday with 1 other couple. I guess the drink led pubs might think what’s the point if that’s the sort of return you get
I’m not going to argue with you, a quick look at your recent posts shows you just look to rile people up, so I counter to you and ask how do you manage as you clearly have more spare time and little to do. If this is what you do for entertainment
