Instead of blowing smoke up his arse, I hope an interviewer at full time asks Southgate why his tactics are.... get a goal then sit back and defend it. Even when there's 80 mins left. Why Gareth, why do you instruct them to play these tactics. It's crap.
I accepted game one. We won but weren’t great. Became deep after an hour. Today? Deep as soon as we went ahead. Bellingham non-existent (best player in the world). Foden out of position. TAA is not a midfielder. Kane playing midfield. It’s a mess. Stick Jude next to Rice. Foden at 10. Gordon wide left.
Kane trying to run with it from the edge of his own box, and he also gave it away for their goal. Foden so annoying when he gets into a good position. Tripps rarely used out on the far side, when he's unmarked. We might have to settle for a point here in what could be a horrible upcoming 50 minutes.
Entire balance of the team is screwed cos we've had to shoehorn Alexander-Arnold into the team. Take him off (he's not marked one person yet), drop Bellingham back into proper CM, (allowing foden to be number one free floater) and bring on someone for the left hand side of the front 3. It's not ******* hard
They called Graham Taylor some names and gave him dogs abuse. However, at least they played with intensity under him. This is crap. Mind you I never rated Sven either.
Just can't understand what Southgate is afraid of with this group of players, let them go an express themselves instead this turgid stuff. No disrespect meant to Denmark but we've allowed them to be the better team. Body language of the players tells its own story look like they aren't enjoying playing this way at all.
Yeah - topped the group winning every game including smashing 6 past the weakest side and beating Belgium. Then beat Colombia, who were the dirtiest side in the world and kicked us all over - then dealt with Sweden with a cigar in the quarters. Did you see the run we had in Italia 90? Now that was an easy run through - and we were massively criticised after the group stages. I genuinely don't get why people get their knickers in a twist over this mythical "style of play". I bet Arsenal were devastated when George Graham won league titles by keeping clean sheets.
