Weird one is Cole. Doesn’t always look like he enjoys playing or can be bothered, but he should easily score 20 goals this season. Not everyone’s cup of tea and probably doesn’t compare well with former strikers in some departments, but he’s the best goal scorer for us at this time and I’d prefer we kept him for now. Having said that, I did like the look of Cosgrove & MCAtee in the short time they had together, and we have goals in midfield, so if he did go, we might be ok?
I really hope we keep him as he’s a brilliant League One striker and we need him for our promotion push, but what an awful signing he would be for Wednesday. He’s a lower end Championship striker at best and even then he needs to be playing in a team that’s confident and creating chances. He’s also approaching the end of his career (29 in May) and there’s little chance he’ll improve drastically, nor could they expect to make any money on him. Which probably means they’ll spend over the odds and make us a silly offer.
If he gets the chance at a move to a decent sized club then he'd be daft not to take it. He's at an age where its his last chance for a "big" contract - 3 or 4 year deal at 10/12k a week. It is what it is.
He’s more chance of getting a long contract when he’s a free agent and no transfer fee involved in the summer
Could be why Jalo signed the other day. He gets his chance to be the 1st name on the team sheet and plays in rotation with Cosgrove and McAtee.. Did hear a while since it was Cole to Coventry but that's gone quiet..
That's true But he's also at a risk of injury for those 6 months which could scupper any move. If I'm a footballer at this level, sadly, it all comes down to money.
Spoke with a Wednesday supporter on Friday he had heard the rumour about Cole, he doesn't think he is a championship signing and his level if league1
https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...cester-city-barnsley-and-brighton-men-4468338 This isn't my source by any means but I have just found this. Coincidence or just wishful thinking from the journalist who has written it?
If I was Cole I'd bog off if there was extra brass. If I was on the board I wouldn't sell to Piglet FC for anything under a million. Being a fan I'm not overly bothered what happens as I dont think he's very good overall (although he's not total pants either) BUT he would still need replacing by a sensible recruitment pick and what would the gurus at board level have lined up......?
No I’m not living in dreamland, IMHO I’m being far more realistic than your usual negativeness against anything BFC. As others have posted, 500k would be a pointless sale and far from good business, unless he throws the Teddy out, but even then we hold all the cards, and could simply let him rot in the reserves/ u21s until the end of the season and let’s see who comes in for him then. A player is worth whatever the buying club is willing to pay, Cole plays for a team currently in the top 6 of L1 and has scored 14/15 goals. I believe he’s 28 now so got a few more years in him yet.
Don't worry about it we will definitely have done our succession planning to perfection and have our ready made replacement to step straight in won't we
