Nothing negative about it, just realism, Cole is out of contract in the summer, Cole is also unproven beyond league 1 level, so paying £1million for an out of contract player would be highway robbery, if anyone’s willing to pay that I will drive him myself. £500k would be good business, as personally I think we can do better.
Who exactly are we going to get that's better and will hit the ground running straight away? No one lets a decent striker leave in January unless it's a mad offer that they can't refuse. We aren't going to be making mad offers for anyone.
Whereas 500k might seem a good deal for us on paper for a 28 year old with 6 months left on his contract - there'd be no way we would be able to pick up someone as good as Cole for the same price or less. I'd rather we held - promotion is worth a lot more than 50k.
Time for Cosgrove to step up, and Watters, and we have Jalo who needs to start games. I’m sure there’s plenty of strikers in the u21’s from the Premier league or even Championship. If our hopes rest on Cole getting us out of this division then it ain’t going to happen.
Clearly a coincidence as it also mentions JCH who is widely reported as being set to sign for Charlton. There's no substance to anyone on the list it's just a random list of players who theoretically could join them.
I don't understand how anyone could think that it's a good idea for a club in a promotion race to sell a striker who has scored 14 goals in 24 games, unless there is the kind of huge bid which will almost certainly not materialise.
NAME P G 1 Devante Cole 24 14 2 John Mcatee 19 6 3 Herbie Kane 23 5 4 Barry Cotter 20 3 This is bleak imo Cole scored 14 in 24 next top goalscorer is mcatee with 6 and Barry Cotter is joint 4th with watters on 3 goals. You have to worry where the goals are coming from if we sell.
The problem is that neither Cosgrove nor Watters has given any indication that they are capable of "stepping up".
Thats a recruitment problem, the club have backed themselves into a corner yet again, Cole is out of contract & top scorer so will of course attract interest, lower end Championship clubs will think he’s worth a punt, & we know how much the board are pushovers, anyone that offers £500k imo will see it accepted. Personally I wouldn’t be too bothered, I don’t rate him but that’s personal opinion.
I don't understand those who say sell. Do you really think all the money would be used, let alone added to and buy a like for like replacement? No, We'll sell him and replace him with a £50,000 punt from Dagenham and Redbridge. He's the first chance we've had off having a 25 goal a season striker in years
Probably so but surely rather be playing but that’s easy for me say he will probably do what his dad says
New board arent the pushovers we used to be, look at Kitching for example we turned down bids until we got one that only an idiot would refuse this summer and turned down bids for Styles that didnt meet our valuation
How's it a recruitment problem? Everyone said Coles goalscoring last season was a one off he's rubbish. Norwood was the 2nd coming with his shithousery and that's what we need to get promoted. Then we sign watters and there's threads on here blowing smoke up his arse saying he will be our top scorer. Then we sign Cosgrove and many fans creaming over this. In fairness he did look a good signing. But both have failed to live up to the hype. Selling a bloke who's got better than 1 in 2 this season for peanuts would be silly
Wouldn't be suprised to see kane leave. I really don't think many clubs will be fancying styles based on this seasons form. Anything above 750k and I'd sell styles.
Because we have a bang average league 1 striker who folk seem desperate to keep because the strikers we brought in last summer are **** basically.
