We created some more really good openings from good play at the start of the second half and could quite easily have added two or three more in the game I watched, it's just that we reverted to having that extra touch or making the wrong decision in the final quarter of the pitch that was our trademark last week. Then things understandably wound down as we brought subs on. Have to say I was not disappointed at any point and very happy at the end. Special mention to Bobby Thomas who I thought set the tone with strong play from the off and was my man of the match along with Norwood - and Bobby's even going to make sure we get some use out of the those new red towels that we splashed out on for Edwards!
Great idea. We should pass onto duff that in future we should only win with last minute winners. Steady 3-1 home wins are boring. Maybe you should watch another sport.
If they were going to take the foot off the gas and sit back for well over an hour they should have said before thousands turned up in freezing weather hoping to be entertained. I'm happy with three points but it was a missed opportunity to hand out our first thrashing of the season and boost our goal difference. Hopefully come May our goal difference won't let us down and we won't be thinking back to this game.
I was kind of expecting the game to unfold, as it did. I have seen this often, even with top Premiership teams. A team comes out and scores 3 or 4 quick goals in the first half, and it looks like it will be a cricket score. Then, they come out in the second half and struggle to score, and usually the other side wins the half. Does one team take their foot off the peddle? Does one team up their game? Is it because the winning team start to experiment with substitutions? Is it a combination of the three? Whatever; it's not unusual (as Tom Jones would say).
Whilst we screwed up a few chances in the second half, what i found to be bizzare was to see Accrington go 6 straight across the backline. Even more so when they were in possession
