did we really start the game with a midfielder in defence?

    Lol

You know I'm never wrong :D

Seriously though, if I felt it was worth my while going away to watch a good game, I would feel more inclined to spend more time and money going to away games.

The day going to Hillsbrough cost me about £60 in total, that's more than a day's wages after tax.

I don't think you can say someone who doesn't go to Plymouth isn't a real fan.

    El Haimour played pretty well!!

not a fan of the lad,but I have to say he did very well in defence, tackled well and showed good speed,
didn't start too well,2 or 3 bad passes, but got better as the game went on,as a left back,he played better than either
Kozzie or Potter have played this season.

RE: El Haimour played pretty well!!

I think that's why Davey played him today and also played Van Homet last year, they both have pace. Something both our nomal full-backs don't have. Not having ago at Bobby Hassell, because in my view, if he'd been quick as well as a good player,we wouldn't been able to keep hold of him...JMV

    The solution then surely is...

Sign a quick full back who can defend as well?

Kozluk and Hassell are when in decent form good defenders but lack pace.

El Haimour is quick but not a defender...

    Erm...

Seems to be a problem paying for defenders doesn't it?

    In recent times:

    Hassell - free
    Kozluk - free
    Moore - free
    Foster - £200k
    Souza - free
Van Homoet - free I think
Thompson - undisclosed fee? Likely to be small, I'd guess 200k max

    Total - £400k at a guess

    Yet strikers...

    Macken - £200k
    Hume - £1.2m
    Christensen - £300k or so
    Mostto - £500k ish
    Boggo - undisclosed fee
    Gray - £600k
    Odejayi - £200k

    Total: well over £3m

And we wonder why the defence is *****.

Not all those defenders are bad by any means, in fact many are better than most of those strikers, but it seems as though Simon's loathed to spend much on a defender. Result: We're crap at defending every season.

True, but I am in my late 30s, what's your excuse for being so slow? Your games also generally clashed with Barnsley's. Especially when we were playing away from home!

    No they don't clash

I've run this team for 5 years and never once missed a Barnsley game because of it. Any games I've intended to go to I have done.

    Our games finish by 12.15.

As for the pace, I'm not the quickest but I'm a lot faster than I used to be as I was carrying an injury for years which I've finally got rid of :)

Guessing you've not had a good day mate?

    RE: No they don't clash

They clashed with my matchday schedule. Kids to look after, notes to prepare, press box equipment to set up etc, seeing as me and Adam (and Steve when he was still there) were/are the only members of the comm. team who actually bothered to turn up early to do and stay on after BFC games to pack up again. I haven't add a bad day either, quite pleasant as it goes, result excepting.

Oh and D/T the only sour grapes are the ones Allen has re: his dismissal from the comm. team due to his scathing criticism of a player from the club he so passionately supports.

    Ha now come on

My criticism of Letheren was nothing compared to Adam's of Colgan, and your guys comments about El Haimour.

You know that for a fact. You were on my side and agreed it was ridiculous what happened to me.

Not entirely sure why you've a bee in your bonnet today Matt, we always get on but everything I say today you're being aggressive.

    No need at all.

I won't go into what you've said about Davey before on here - especially on how he behaved with me and in interviews.

    Short memories hey.

    RE: Ha now come on

I have never typed a negative comment about any member of the BFC staff on this site and I will stand by that. If I have anything to say, I will say it on air or to people's faces. I have a backbone you see, unlike some arrogant souls I have the dubious pleasure of knowing.

I know you have a backbone

I don't question you at all.

However, as you know full well, I said my opinions on air, in interviews, and press conferences so I most certainly have a very strong backbone too :)

And yes, there are plenty of spineless people around we could mention... (hidebehindsofa)
