RE: Yes.

Was going to edit this to say 'would you shag Simon Davey' - but it's funny enough as it is.

    No , absolutely not

Especially when his appointment was announced straight after the humiliating defeat by Sheffield Wednesday.
However , I'm delighted that Mr Davey has proved ( if proof were needed ) that I know bugger all about football .
Brilliant work Simon , keep it up .

    Didnt have a clue ,

I just wanted the team to play some football.

It didnt look good last season as the stuff we served up was on a par with the days of Glynn Hodges.

Pre-Season we played some good stuff agin Wigan , only to revert to humping as per last season. Davey appeared to have gone insane.

We then signed De Silva , Reid got suspended and as if by magic a football team appeared.

    I wasn't knocking Tina.

She was all supportive of Simon and asked every one to give him a chance.

She was one of the few posters who were behind him.

No, but it just goes to show that so-called experienced managers, and those that have been on the merry-go-round of managing different clubs are not the first on the list. Davey took the job with a lot of flack from the fans (me included) and kept us in the championship. Keep up the good work Davey, staying in this league and getting established as a championship club is all that is asked of you, anything better will be a massive bonus. :)

I wasn't happy, but changed my mind after the 'Supporters Club' meeting

Making the DVD with the children also helped me to change my mind when I saw what he was doing behind the scenes and how he was going about bringing to our club, a professionalism and a backroom staff who were highly qualified and ambitious and who were determined to succeed in making Barnsley FC a side to be reckoned with.

He was great with the children , is very eloquent, is media friendly and has a good rapport with people and therefore, I expect that he has that with his players too.

He doesn't mess, commands respect and has introduced the long awaited 'competition' for places which has been so sadly lacking at our Club.

    I think he's great.

He did say though that he 'will be sacked eventually'. and expects to be sacked at some point if his gambles and thinking do not work out'.

I think it was very brave of him to tell us that.

I liked him a lot and posted the same

But initially, I did not want him to be Manager and told him so.

I witnessed a training session and wasn't impressed, I thought that the players were merely going through the motions and that their hearts weren't in it. (This was just after Ritchie left)

He said he understood and that he would do his best to change that view and the view of others.

He re-inforced this view at the 'Supporters Meeting' and we gave him a vote of confidence - the rest is history

    YoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooReds!

I think that Simon has proved us all wrong so far......

I didn't want him, was gutted, but as i say, making the DVD with the children and going 'backstage' and seeing how he was transorming our Club made me think again.

It was embarassing to tell him that I wasn't impressed but you know what kids are like!

At the interview we had with Simon Davey.

"Miss didn't want you as manager Simon, she's a reight Barnsley Fan"

    "Errr, well, err, ......

    "Really?..."

In the end I came straight out with it.

"No, I'm a massive fan and I didn't want you as manager"

    He laughed his head off

"So, what's new? no fan wants me as manager, I'll just have to work at it and prove 'em wrong"

That's the conversation and I think he has done that.

Previously I had been as vocal as the rest but from then on, I gave him all the backing I could, both on here and elsewhere.

I believed in him and I think he has done a great job and long may it continue.

He's 'cutting his teeth' with us but so far, it's looking good

    Yes

Ever since I was born and started to think.

Do I win pedant of the year award? (It was a stupid question though - everyone thought he was a disaster waiting to happen)

    Not at all

I was extremely unhappy to return from Scotland to find that he'd been given the job after we'd given up without so much as a whimper against Wednesday before the New Year.

I watched us stay up by the skin of our teeth playing some of the most negative football I've seen in years & whilst I appreciated that was "job done", I was far from convinced he had the ability to get us playing any other way.

After the Coventry defeat at the start of the season, I just thought to myself "Same /poo , different season."

How happy am I to be proved wrong & eat, as I think I did a couple of weeks or so ago after the win against Bristol City, a huge slice of humble pie.

Long may things continue but, like many others, I reserve the right to criticise when I feel necessary.

Why do you have to eat 'humble pie' ? Just for calling things as you saw them at the time ? Opinions mate, opinions.

    I was concerned

at the end of last season that the football that had been produced to retain our position was not what I wanted to watch. This season has been a totally different experience, proving that the man has undoubted ability. I always agree with giving a new appointee a year to prove himself, and that year is nearly up for Simon, and I am no longer concerned. I think we have capable hands steering the Barnsley team.

    Still think he's ****.

He's spent a million pounds on strikers who can't score.
He still hasn't got a ball winning centre half, as Souza is pants on a stick.
The keeper is probably his one & only decent signing since he took over.
The best player in the team was already here when he arrived.

    We are Luton Town.

    Get ready.
