It's bang out of order ......

.... if she's fortunate to get a free ticket for her own use, fair enough, quite a few do if they are lucky enough to know people at the club, but to get so many and then flog them is wrong.

The club have been made aware, and have read these posts today, and will supposedly be dealing with it

She is abusing her fortunate position, Their is no way she should be getting as many freebes as this.

Its a scandal and touting them is illegal

    RE: Fortunate Position??

I wouldn't call standing in the rain on a tuesday night in december opening the gates for players to get through being in a fortunate position.
She's stood there for years selling raffle tickets and half time draw tickets, all which raise money for the club so if the players want to give her a few tickets so what!! its not hurting you is it.
And im sure that if she comes up to you at Forest later on in the year and offers you a ticket for a tenner instead of the £23 it will cost on the gate your going to decline it. (i think not)

    It's a weird one this

And I'm not going to start judging anyone.

But I think a couple of things should be cleared up. If the story is true then the tickets being sold are to Barnsley supporters intending to pay on the gate at away grounds. Barnsley Football club do not get any money from these sales for league matches, so the selling on of complimentary tickets does not affect BFC finances in any way. Also, if the tickets are being sold for less than the price of admission it is doing a favour to some Barnsley fans. They are gaining admission to the game for less money than they thought they would have to pay. Rather than conning them they are seeing the game for cheaper.

That's not to say there aren't ethical, moral or even legal arguments about what it is being alleged to be taking place and maybe it is in this area that people have a problem, but I don't see how BFC or BFC fans are losing out.

Its a criminal offence to tout tickets!!!

HOW is it costing the club????

I'd say the opposite. By giving away AWAY complimentary tkts (albeit ones that get sold on) it means the ones who profit by it (Reds away fans getting in for free, or for a tenner) have more money to spend on a HOME tkt back at t'well.

Am I missing a point somewhere?

Problies the reason this lady gets so many tkts is cos it saves the players standing there for half an hour dishing them out one at a time.

+++ Just to point out +++

The woman in question isn't an employee of the club

She doesn't get the tickets from the club (directly any how - probably given to her by the players)

As mentioned, she stands and sells lottery/raffle tickets for the club on the players car park on match days and has done for donkeys years (she does this off her own back and isn't paid by the club). She doesn't let the directors, players or even referees past without them shelling out a few quid (apparently she often gets the blame in the directors box when the ref isn't giving decisions our way) and has done a lot of fund raising for the club over the years.

I think the most appropriate response is'GET A feckING LIFE PAL',costing the club a small fortune my arse,a security problem!!!!selling to people who are going in to the grounds anyway. She's stood selling lottery tickets outside Oakwell for 25 yrs and you begrudge her a few complimentaries which she probably sells so she can go to the away matches supporting our team or have enough to buy the grandkids a shirt at the start of the season.

The Chairman has called me and assured me that the lady in question is not actually an employee of the club.

And having had a good 10 mins talking to him, he seamed to me to be decent chap.
