Disrespect of our Pensioner fan base

I see the snow flake generation are now complaining about our pensioners being given discounts for their season tickets, either when they reach 60 or 65 dependent on how long you have held said season ticket.

will they make the same vociferous complaints when they reach the same ages and are entitled to the discount, or will they voluntarily pay the same as they have done for the previous 50+ of having supported followed the club????????

Yes, pile even more pain on the elderly so the snowflakes can get their tickets at the equivalent of £1 a match shall we?????????

Tbf the pension age by the time even I get it will be up to 67, probably 70+ for my kids. But I agree, it should be discounted for pensioners.

 

You really don't help yourself by ranting about the "snowflake generation" rather than making any points of substance.

 

I don't turn 65 until later this year, and based on the Season Ticket thread, I miss OAP qualification for next season by five days.

I'm torn about who to be mad with here; young people with kids, or OAPs. Grrrrr

There are 22 year old Barnsley fans who have little hope of getting on the housing ladder ever and for whom a season ticket is more than their weekly wage.

There are OAP Barnsley fans who had a mortage at 22 they paid off 15 years later and for whom a season ticket is half their weekly pension.

Neither of the above is either of the person's fault. They could be from the same background and work in the same job with the same level of effort.

But societal economics have changed and it's time for a discussion about concessions.

There are. And taking the piss out of them just highlights your ignorance.

 

It's no joke. Minimum wage for a 22 year old on a 40 hour week (with paid breaks which not many get) is £407.20 per week.

 

Ironically it's usually those who use the term "snow flake" that turn out to be the most easily offended.

 

Just a crazy post, complaining about disrespect to a generation by immediately labelling another one. It cuts both ways….

Don't forget OAPs have had to endure (errrm enjoy) more years of Watching Barnsley errrm play "football". They should have a discount just for that

 

I'm not sure what the OP's source is regarding this. There is no "Snowflake Generation", as far as I'm aware. I'm 59 & I'm probably a Snowflake. If I am fair ***** TBH. I'm not sure I'm the generation referred to though, as it is not at all clear.

I have to say ST prices are fairly decent at Oakwell for our level, but I appreciate that lots of young people are struggling. The high cost of living / housing / education / etc has been driven up by 14 years of Tory divisive policies, I believe retired people & unwaged people should get discounts, as I'm quite capable of paying to go to games. That's not always been the case throughout my life. When I've been poor I've just not attended, which hardly helps the club either in terms of revenue & support.

Surely we can all show some solidarity as Barnsley fans? The same solidarity shown during the miners strike, for example?

 

I'm 65 this year, old mate. I'm definitely woke & a snowflake and proud of it.
