Definitely. Even at away games some of our goal celebrations look quite sedate compared with back in the day. All seater stadiums haven't helped but it's not just that.
Could be. Although in the early 80's shell suits weren't really a thing, and celebrations then were mental. Maybe it's moustache related?
Need more hipsters at Oakwell then. Maybe we could get some cold brew coffee stalls to attract them or something?
There are still a few taches on show in the Liberace section of the Ponty. Mostly belonging to men in their 60's dressed like Status Quo. They don't really look like the sort of crowd who'd happily pay £4 for a cup of cold coffee.
Pains me to say but even when opposition teams score at oakwell the North stand isn't a patch on the old kop. But seating still does produce limbs as its known this once from when brum survived by the skin if their teeth again and of course the 2nd needs no intro shame about the quality who ever had filmed but still great watching the scenes.
Bradford should have score last night with one - Bradford player tried to "flick" it instead of putting his head through the ball - think he was scared of the goalie clattering him.
Speaking of Derek Bell - ‘Volleying the wife’ isn’t a thing these days either, probably a good thing mind ………..,
Saw this picture of Steve Cooper scoring a diving header against Brighton in Feb 1989, on the Barnsley Football 70s/80s Facebook page, posted by his brother. It was the game after we'd beaten Stoke in that fantastic FA Cup replay. Still amazes me how athletic Cooper was, he's basically horizontal and 6ft up in the air.
Diving Headers! I was given Diving Headers as a coaching topic in 1995 when I did the old FA Preliminary Coaching Certificate. One of the hardest topics to set up and coach. Pleased to say I made the grade. Nearly 30 years ago now. Tony Wheelan who went on to become the deputy head of Man Us Academy was my assessor. He was a great guy.
