Re: oh do behave You missed out Gateshead too. Gillingham and S****horpe? You're making a good case for yourself.
I would just like to point out to the site Admin here that when the then likes of the 'Right Honourable' Mr Conan take a somewhat aggressive stance as such , then it is by no means a wonderment that other such honourable contributors might sometimes stoop to taking a more agricultural type of response.. I draw your honourable site admins to the recent fracas with our learned friends MRX, ESL etc.. Could you now shout ORDER ORDER ORDER at the learned colleague I am now addressing. If not perhaps he could be sent to S****HORPE and given the key to the town as is deserved .
so you do not remember the Gills and the Iron in the championship then you do watch football don't you ???? Hmmm ?? And again I am telling you of teams since the formation of the premier league... or where you still filling nappies when that happened. and no not all were premier but were at least second tier ... before your brain explodes on that one too.
Re: so you do not remember the Gills and the Iron in the championship then Indeed I do. I think S****horpe managed to survive for two seasons on gates of 5,000 or less. The first time they played at this level for about 50 years I believe. They are nowt like us.
Whhhhhoooooshhhh that went so high over its unbelievable... tell me is? your school project done yet?
if you meant mk dons theres massive potential which a championship or even prem league position could tap into .
could I ask the right honourable gentleman to re-read the OP and if he could once having read the OP.. could the right Honourable gentleman then remove his head from his rectum and take a long look around at the football world and its total corrupt and rotten values.
Re: so you do not remember the Gills and the Iron in the championship then other than wolves and sheff u,we could quite easily compete with that lot in the list, especially if we had some investment like some of them had,we'd get 20,000+easily, every game, if we ever got back into the promised land and there'd be no problem of 16,000 if we were serious play off contenders.
Re: could I ask the right honourable gentleman to re-read the OP I don't need to read it again. I responded by saying PNE and Bradford are not bigger clubs than us. You then started blathering on about S****horpe, Gillingham and Crewe.
Re: so you do not remember the Gills and the Iron in the championship then 96/97 play off contenders nearly all season crowds nothing near 16000 till last few games. wolves etc apart and the £5 oldham game.
no seriously have you actually taken on board what the OP is getting at... I cannot really think you have done so... its not that hard to grasp at all... it is indeed hard to stomach/admit what he is getting at about our team.. but his concept is not hard to see... seems you my learned friend are having a troublesome time looking at the failings of our side... its like a parent evening as such... when doting parents are told their little angel is in fact a total waste of space.. wake up fella smell the coffee... we are no longer championship quality.. and whats more we will be well pushed to be a good League one side.
i did say a higher league to get the populace interested. the potential is massive if they get the status not a decent club for miles just as hull city had to build then get the status
Re: no seriously He didn't really mention the team. He said other clubs have been relegated who are bigger than us. I disagreed with his ideas of which of these clubs ate bigger. There was next to no mention of the actual quality of the team.
Re: so you do not remember the Gills and the Iron in the championship then you hit the nail on the head marlon with the last few games,it was the success that was building toward the playoffs that drew the crowds in.What I'm trying to say is we could pull those crowds in if we ever managed to push on.Trouble is,we never do push on because we havnt got the financial clout to do so.
Re: here is a list of teams in the 3rd tier or below who have been much better placed Port Vale and Crewe were both in the same division as us (2nd) about 25 or so years ago. In 96/97, PV finished in 8th and Stoke in 12th so for at least one year had the bragging rights as the biggest team in the Potteries (but have never appeared in the top division). Crewe were also promoted in 96/97 to what is now the Championship and Colchester in 2005/6 for a couple of seasons. Incidently, Colchester won promotion from the Conference when we were relegated from the PL...
