Do you think the club would support an 'ultras' type supporters group to improve the atmosphere?

Sounds a top idea. Oakwell really does need something to get it jumping again.

i would definately do it, would make the atmosphere at oakwell ten times better. Would also make it intimidating for the opposition. (Y)

    "Oakwell jumping again"

That's what it needs - a chant to remind us there's life in the place yet... like the "Boing Boing Baggies" or the scarf twirling geordies... even Wednesday were bouncing up & down with some chant about "If you don't bounce you're a blade".
We need something... Lets all Bounce for Barnsley ...

I'm not quite sure that I understand

From what I can make out, its just a group of fans who sing at football matches and take flags and whatnot. What is there for the club to support/not support?

Well the club would have to support it by not banning flags and not putting a stop to any...

...unofficial merchandise. I'm not talking about the ones that used to cover half of a stand but just support the supporters bringing in small flags, being able to find somewhere to hang banners and to advise the stewards not to confiscate anything. I was thinking of something along the lines of http://www.stretfordendflags.com where people buy original t-shirts to fund the creation of decent flags and banners to display home and away.

We could do with a few t-shirts commemorating our most memorable performances, our best songs and our cult players. I'd love to get a Brian Howard, Neil Redfearn, Steve Agnew, Ronnie Glavin or Ian Banks t-shirt in the same pop art style of some of those on tshirts365.com. Or a some of our slogans "I was born under the Ponte End" on a t-shirt similar to what they've done at footees.co.uk. I just think it's a shame that we haven't got any decent merchandise and if we could create some to sell, the profits could go to designing flags and banners that we could use to show the world who Barnsley are. Maybe that would put a stop to some of the patronising comments that Disco Tyke brought up?

The sooner the better,1st we need several ideas then sort out in which direction we need to go with this before it dies.

While it's fresh in everyone's minds looking at the feedback on this thread it can work.
