Is Parkinson even a genuine Barnsley fan? If they wanted a celebrity guest of honour they should have gone with a celebrity who actually watches us, somebody like Dickie Bird or Shaun Dooley.
Saw Dickie Bird in Tarn on Tuesday. he's definitely going and predicted a 4-1 win for the reds. He's a genuine Barnsley fan and season ticket holder.
I don't have an issue with him being successful or leaving Barnsley, I just don't think he's a Barnsley fan. Shaun Dooley lives away from Barnsley but regularly supports Barnsley. Parkinson is a very poor choice as a guest of honour in my humble opinion.
Everton play Sunday so John Stones won't make it.....or will he after he was injured the other night? He should be allowed to come if injured, he does sponsor the cup when all said and done!
Total rubbish. Don't understand why we can't be proud of a miner's son who has done well for himself.
Don't really care what job his dad had really. As I say he's not done anything for the club except lapped up the limelight whenever we've had any kind of success.
Not sure how you are referring to me, I never mentioned Michael Parkinson. I'm just making the point that you don't need to leave Barnsley to do well, that's all.
I remember picking up a book by Parkinson ("Football Daft") in the old WH Smith's on Market Hill in the late-60s. I was interested in buying it. I looked inside the front dust cover and it gave a brief summary of Parkinson. I got to the part where it said Favourite Colour: Red and was then very surprised (and a little bit upset, as I was in mid-teens) because the next item was Favourite Club: Manchester United. Of course that was the time of the great Manchester United team of Best, Charlton, Law etc. However, it seems he has no particular allegiance to Barnsley F.C.
