He might surprise us yet... It's possible he could yet stumble across ( quite by accident of course ) a formula or tactical formation that actually works for the team.

Then we can all call him a genius after all.......

Not sure, he seems to worry to much about what the opposition is going to do than what we are going to do.
Adam Hammill and Isgrove were to far infield yesterday to counter their central midfield, rather than pulling wide to create an outlet, we then ended up hammering down the middle which there central defenders won time after time. With them out there we could have tried getting behind there CD's, don't think they would have liked that.
Does he think, what would the opposition not like us to do, rather than how do we stop them (which hasn't been very successful of late)

I don't know, I really don't. Be difficult to defend him if he gets three or four experienced players in during the January transfer window and we still don't perform. He might not get that long.

I really don't think selecting one player from this squad over another would have made much difference though. You could make a case for almost any player we have and why they should be selected, but you can make an equally compelling case for why they shouldn't be in the side. Roberts, for example, has had some good games, but he's had some absolute shockers, playing worse than I've seen from either Mawson or Nyatanga and considering how bad they've been at times, that really is saying something. And we don't see how they perform in training. You may not agree, that's fine, but I've spoken to a number of people who certainly do. It's not cut and dried.

Johnson may or may not be a good manager. We might find out, we might not, depending on when/if we sack him. You may have already made up your mind that he's poor and he'll never improve, but that doesn't necessarily make you right. One thing I'm absolutely sure of is that he's not stupid and he wants to keep his job. If there was a player in our squad who would play much better than anyone else in his position and dramatically increase our chances of winning football games, Johnson would play him. Hammill is such a player and Johnson plays him. Hourihane can be such a player, particularly with his set piece delivery, and he's started all but one league game when fully fit and he came on as a sub in the other. If Scowen is fit, he plays. Pearson too (who I'm not 100% convinced of, but Johnson is). The rest of them (including Winnall who hasn't been as sharp since the injury last season)? Well, as I said earlier, you can make a case for them, but you can make a case against them too. Unfortunately, our squad is not filled with match winners.

I think he's close already... Which other Manager can you name that would have the skill to talk his way into a job with us after losing nine of his last thirteen games with his previous club... pretty close to genius that me thinks...

Yes I think he can turn it round

let me expand... If he gets rid of the majority of the loans we have right now, then brings in about 4 old stagers then maybe he can do it... but then we have to ask the question as to how we will be next season. Maybe some older warriors with savvy and guile in his league may have some of their experience rub off on to our younger ones... and get them ready for a better push next term. But I would still want a good number of experienced player in /retained for next season. As things stand I see nothing but relegation this season. Then how would we be able to attract a decent class of player next season.

Yeah, definitely - but it all depends on the experience and quality of the personnel he can attract - not that easy in January compared to the summer. I don't think Johnson needs to do much coaching of Hammill. Hammill knows what to do.
Similarly, if we sign a modern day Ian Evans, Ray Mchale and Neil Shipperley, we'd climb the league even if I was in charge.
If in January we start trying to bring in 19 year olds on loan then we deserve everything we get.

No, I don't think he's capable of turning things around. Too many players have gone backwards in development under him and his team selections, tactics and substitutions are generally poor. The final straw for me was the panic triple substitution at Altrincham with over half an hour of play remaining.

As for him being given time to fix it, I don't want him anywhere near the January transfer window after the debacle of the summer dealings (regardless of whether it was him alone or not responsible for this). I simply don't trust him to get it right and we can't afford to get it wrong given where we are in the league.

Replacing him now gives a new manager time to assess what we have ahead of January and then use the window as he sees fit. I think we can salvage our season doing this. Each game that passes with LJ in charge just makes this an increasingly difficult task.

My point regards players isnt so much pick one over the other... But having a settled side is key. Especially for team to start to gel and build confidence. If you look at LJ's team selections it is very rare that he names same side as previous. Predominantly the defence and even goalkeepers.

Good point raised above on player retention. I know its mentioned time and time again on BBS. But it is scandelous that we overlooked resigning Ibhere, and that we let Lalkovic, Oates and Berry go and have failed to recruit. Lalkovic scored again yesterday.

Pre LJ we let RNL and Danny Rose go on the cheap. Both would walk into the current side. And had character!

No idea. At the start of the season I thought we would achieve a top half position. I didn't believe we would achieve automatic promotion however.

I think I tipped us to finish mid table but with the right signings we ought to be pushing for the playoffs.

I'm way out. Never for a moment saw this. I found the idea that some thought we'd be relegated ridiculous, proving again that I know bugger all really.

The worst manager in my living memory was Nigel Spackman, until Lee showed up.

Congratulations Lee, you are the worst & I've been watching for 40 years.
