Norwich and Swansea will probably fill the top 2 places, which leaves Brentford Watford Reading Bournemouth Cardiff and us fighting over the 4 play off places. Reading and Bournemouth’s current form suggests they may be the 2 to miss out.
Swansea are slipping though. If we did get to play offs no doubt it would be one of those who thrawt us, a Hourihane screamer to clinch it or a Moore header.
Certainly realistic. We've a pretty favourable run in, and the teams just ahead of us seem to be wobbling. My only concern is that when we have a dip in form, we lose matches rather than draw too many. Our only real dips in form over the course of the season have been at the start, and just inside the new year, where both times, we lost far more than we drew. I do think we've grown a bit more now, with the more physical presence up front, so if we do go through another sticky patch, hopefully we can keep picking up points during it. If we finish in the top 10 with the Play-offs being within 8 points, this season certainly won't go down as a failure.
Absolutely, no question. We just keep beating anyone and everyone. If VI had been there at the start of the season, we could be in the top 3.
Oh undoubtedly, but you could argue we were unlucky not to get a point from Watford and Norwich. That's how far we've come though, because we can certainly beat anyone in this division now.
We play our game in hand in a couple of weeks, then go to Bournemouth. We shall see see. But two games before those
Always thought we would fall short and there were too many team between us, but this last weeks results in the league have changed this. I’m still not sure we will do it, but the opportunity is definitely there & in our hands.
After Brentford I said the next four would determine where we finish. Blackburn, Bristol, Stoke, and Millwall, all decent mid-table teams. Win two and we'll finish top half. We've beaten all four. Comfortably beaten all four. We haven't looked like losing any of those. Sometimes it feels like this club does things the hard way. Like last year, when we beat QPR away, then drew with Luton and Wigan. Part of me expects to go into the games against Derby, Birmingham, Wycombe and Wednesday and get nothing, because that's what always seems to happen, but I really believe in this side. I believe in Val. I think he can get us the points we'll need. This feels like 1997, like 2016. This feels like it's written for us to do it, and we just need to trust in the system and the players. Play the game like we have been and we can beat anybody. Why not us?
From the bits I've read on other clubs' forums it seems a lot of their fans think we can make the play offs.
Even including Januarys results since taking charge Val has overseen us acquire 47 points from 25 games. Almost 2 points per game. Its no fluke as jas been said before. Maintain that and it would get us in the top 6.
I believe we have what it takes to get in the top 6. The question is can we stay there. Our run in definitely has more winnable games 'on paper' and should be more encouraging than the start to 2021.
Just hope that if we do make the top six either Swansea go up automatically or someone else knocks them out - can’t contemplate facing Conor at Wembley
We have to. Or the team will be torn apart & Val will be off to the premier league.. we are no longer under the radar..
When we lost heavily at home to Bournemouth I can remember the commentator saying something along the lines of it being no disgrace as they are going to be one of the front runners for promotion back to the prem. I was in agreement. As we’re now only a point behind them, with a game in hand and already having won more games then I think we’ve a very good chance of getting into the playoffs. Pressures on the teams that spend the money. They carry the weight of expectation.
Imy heart says yes, my head says no. Even though we’ve got a young squad, injuries and fatigue will probably play a part in our season run in at some point. There’s still that chance though....
Don’t forget all the other teams have been playing twice a week for months also. I would back our young squad to come out of this better than most.
