    You still haven't heard?

That's dreadful. I'm amazed that your GP hasn't oredered another set of tests just so the original results suddenly turn up.

My GP has received the results and advised me of them (i took your advice and asked him TA !) I have telephoned the consultant's office THREE times, most recently last week, they told me that there had been a big problem on the recall list and said would phone me back next day. I'm still waiting. I only want to know what the treatment is to be and I'm quite happy to wait if someone lets me know what's going on!!!

So to get a free "NHS" sight test at your place

how would I prove to you that my Mum, who died a few years ago, had Glaucoma?

You can't. That's why there's an option of 'evidence not seen' for the receptionist to mark in such cases.

It is poor.. I joked with the receptionist that 'it's a good job it's nothing serious' . I have to say that I have no complaints with any of the medical side, but the admin is poo !!!

They would still need to see her birth certificate or medical card. While ever she's under 16 she gets a free eye exam. Medical conditions aren't an issue with kids.

    I know the feeling

Laura was referred by the GP as an urgent case to see the Physio last November and after checking with them on numberous occasions they sent an appointment.......
March 31st at Mount Vernon, we went and was told they had got her date of birth wrong and so she needed to be referred to Paediatric Physio at Barnsley.

Again after ringing round to see what had happened to the paperwork we got an appointment for June 16th - assessed.

First treatment session Aug 17th sent home with exercises to do see you in October.

I appreciate that there are lots of patients needing to be seen but at least send a letter saying that the referral has been received and that you may have to wait x weeks for an appointment.

Diabetics, Glaucoma sufferers (and their children/parents/siblings over 40) get free exams.

It's amazing looking at her eyes in the monitor

the slit lamp is conected to a monitor so I can see what the Dr looks at.

Everytime we go to the hospital or to the Opticians it's always a case of "Do you mind if my Colleague takes a look because he's never seen this before".
Laura just sits there her eyes streaming because of the bright light and tells them to go ahead.

The problem is, just what has already been said

people think I'm not waiting that long offer to pay and get seen straight away.

I've often been tempted to say " Well how soon could I be seen if I pay? and then when they say next week say I'll have that appointment but I'm not paying"

I should write to the hospital

but not the Chronicle until after treatment.

I don't need an appointment (fingers crossed) at the moment.
