Get the NHS back to normal. Folks need to know if they find a lump or find blood after using the toilet or have unexplained weight loss etc that they should report it and get seen as soon as possible.
I'm not saying it's not, and the general trend is downwards as you say. But Sunday's are factually the lowest day for reporting the deaths.
You can do this without lifting lockdown.Nowhere has the government said if you have the above you should not bother health professionals.
it make me wonder why these temp' hospitals that sprung up couldnt be used solely for corvid cases and let the rest of the nhs look after other patients best they could given the current situation, its not as if money is an obstacle if the past seven weeks are anything to go by
There are a multitude of articles for a multitude of 'problems'. The key is finding the few that are not agenda driven and can be validated with statistical research not pure speculation. Regarding cancer going un-diagnosed. I have lost friends who sadly died (one within 3 weeks of diagnosis) simply because they were pretty much symptonless. I had to physically take my wife to the doctors after she refused to go to to the doctors as she knew something wasn't quite right for a few weeks: any longer then perhaps she wouldn't be here today. I don't doubt many people are fearful of going to the doctors or A and E right now (I've spent a couple of shifts at A and E with our patients during this crisis) and on both occasions I reckon it was only around 20% of what it would normally be. This also however would also be down to the initial assessment in the triage tent prior to admission. There are no winners here I'm afraid. A full and proper 6-8 weeks lockdown would I strongly believe have enabled us to get things rolling much faster. This however is pure speculation on my part.
Im sorry Helen, but you can’t. Routine screening isn’t happening. They’ve stopped sending out the letters for cervical screening, for example.
No you can't. Hospitals were instructed to close down many of their departments. I know a hospital manager, head of radiography, who was instructed to shut down their department.
https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/1826-people-died-yorkshire-hospitals-18229029 22 Yorkshire deaths which will be the lowest daily amount since the early days. We shouldn't be continuing to lock down a county of 5.6 million people when many more deaths will be happening in the years to come because of the Covid only mindset where other illnesses are forgotten about.
Again, I'm not arguing against lock down, and I wouldn't link to an agenda driven article that cannot be substantiated, the one I linked to isn't and can be. I'm simply saying that many people are only considering one issue, that there are others, huge issues, and they are being totally overlooked by many to the point where they begin name calling simply if you mention them.
Keeping in mind there's a lag on a weekend and it was also a bank holiday - this may affect figures from the past 5 days - as per NHS England data guidelines. As a small footnote, there was a small increase in Barnsley's figures with 22 deaths in the past 10 days compared with just 16 in the previous 10. Per head of population that's a significant increase over the others in the graph. (36 in Leeds, 26 in Mid Yorkshire and 28 in Sheffield - all over the last 10 days)
Of course it has become a multi-faceted issue and I do believe this is being recognised. If these restrictions are eased too quickly then we could see 500,000 deaths over the next year. The ratio of covid deaths to those who arguably would die as a consequence of covid would be incomparable, terribly sad but incomparable. Many countries enduring this catastrophe are not as privileged as ours either. Their peoples do not have the protection of state intervention nor do they have a modern and egalitarian health care system.
they don’t have and never did have any staff to work in the Nightingale Hospitals. The only staff available were those already employed in Normal hospitals. Even with press-ganging 3rd year nursing students into work rather than placement so they counted in numbers there aren’t enough staff to work in normal hospitals. The Nightingale Hospitals were just an expensive PR stunt.
Aviation is ****** either way. Chances of international travel becoming normal again within the next 18 months is very minimal.
I wasnt on about screening, I was on about those things quoted in the tweet. Plus for things like cervical cancer screening it often will take me 3 months plus to get round to going from receiving a reminder (and I know plenty are like me in this regard!) so at the moment it would he no different.
My wife's was cancelled by our GP surgery as she had it booked. She got a phone call asked a few questions and if she had any concerns and that was it. Similarly my Dad had tests linked to his diabetes cancelled also not had his blood pressure checked when it should be. He has since bought a monitor so he can check it at home. The thing is sometimes its these routine tests on people, who think they are fine that lead to a problem being diagnosed. Now it may well be unavoidable, but it's still a awful situation
staffing levels. You can build all the hospitals you like having the people to safely staff them is a totally different level.
