I personally think for certain dog breeds, people should be required to register these dogs and pay for mandatory insurance on top of any normal insurance they have to pay, plus their should be criminal convictions associated with these incidents such as if a woman gets killed by one of these breeds, then the owner should be charged with murder.

Below is ab excerpt from dogsbestlife.com now I'm not arguing that they ARE a good family pet at all, they don't appeal to me in any way shape or form. But you can't tell me that it's far fetched to think that there's a family out there who has seen one advertised for sale, read the description and bought it. It's also not far fetched to believe that there are dogs if that breed out there who haven't bitten anyone. In fact we know there are because if every single one was ferocious and attacking people there would be thousands of cases of people in the UK attacked by them as there are thousands of the breed in the UK .

My question wasn't a justification for having the dog or an argument against the ban it was a simple question of what happens to those who do have them as loving pets if which there will be quite a number regardless of your opinion of them. Just like there are quite a lot of people who love their pet boa constrictor.

Here is the text from bestdigslife.com

The XL American Bully is a gentle giant. Since the initial breeders wanted family companions, gentleness is paramount! It is a must-have feature for all American Bullies.

Despite its ferocious looks, the American Bully XL is a kind, friendly, and affectionate dog. According to the United Kennel Club, aggression towards humans is uncharacteristic and undesirable.

They make great nannies, are patient with children, and often look out for them. They are also friendly, outgoing, confident, and calm. These giants are not skittish around strangers or other animals.

It doesn’t matter whether you live in the countryside or a city apartment or if you live solo or have a family, the American Bully XL is the perfect companion.

There's not a dog anywhere, regardless of size or breed, that you can 100% trust.
You, I'm sure, can have large dogs that are of a great temperament and obedient. But if they snap or are away from their owners they can kill.
I had one very near miss with a Rotweiler as a postie where it was only at the last second that the owner appeared on the scene and stopped it doing me some very serious damage.
There's no need for breeds designed to be appealing to idiots wanting to look hard.

Staff's are family dogs. Generally Not very good with other dogs but great with children.

A young bloke near me has one, it's the nastiest thing I've ever seen, it's bigger than the one that attacked the young girl the other day and he can barely hold it back. He often has two young women with him who walk 10 yards in front. I will not be surprised in the slightest if it's responsible for an attack on another dog or human soon. I'm an animal lover and don't wish to see harm come to any creature, but that one should not be walking the streets.

Dogs are harmless in general though

    Looking at a few stats

0.01% of uk population have had to go to hospital for dog bites in last year

and 11 people have been killed by dogs out of 68 million before these spat of XL Bullies attacks

Not necessarily so, a friend has one and she daren't leave it unattended with her children. Another friend got rid of one after it bit his missus.

That might be what they were initially meant to be, but too many dodgy breeders and owners have made them too many of them otherwise.
Either way I wouldn't want a dog with that sort of power and potential to 'go wrong' near my family.

Neither would I. A lot of people seem to have completely missed my point though and mistook a question about what happens to anyone who already has these dogs for me being the chairman of the bully XL breeders association

The main problem is backstreet breeders who couldn't give two fcuks about the dogs welfare and are only interested in pumping as many pups out as fast as possible for financial gain. ******** owners are the secondary problem who have a big dog as some sort of status symbol but can't be arsed to raise the dog properly and I'm speaking as an owner of an American Bulldog...........sithi.

I've been knee capped by a Colley and George has been savaged twice by a Lercher. I don't trust any dog.

According to the Govt website, 210,000 people are attacked by dogs in England alone, including 4000 postal workers... fortunately the vast bulk did not require hospital treatment.
