I appreciate you ‘think’* you’ve made a point, despite the posts above giving the legal facts. A fixed penalty notice’ doesn’t mean something isn’t an offence, you’re conflating two half facts.

*because you don’t normally respond to my posts when you know you’re wrong, you usually just skulk off for a few days.

I’ll post this again, seeing as you ignored it the first time.

It's got nothing to do with legality, it is ignoring a ******* instruction from the Government that he helped to draw up. An instruction designed to save lives and protect the NHS. An instruction that everybody else was complying with and making awful sacrifices. There has to be justice.

No it's not, fair comment, as it's biased, not impartial.

    Ofcom states:

"Due impartiality on matters of political or industrial controversy & matters relating to current public policy must be preserved on the part of any person providing a service. This may be achieved within a programme or over a series of programmes taken as a whole".

Maitliss failed on this, hence the reprimand.

Breaking it down, which of the following elements of her statement would you say is untrue:

    1. Cummings broke the rules
    2. The country can see that Cummings broke the rules
    3. The country is shocked that the government cannot see that Cummings broke the rules

Let’s be honest. We all know that every single member of the cabinet, the PM and Dom himself are all aware that he broke the rules

Even my MP the much loved Jeremy Hunt had the decency to reply to me to say that it was clear Cummings had made mistakes with regard to the rules. He then spoiled it by saying he wasn’t going to push for a resignation he gave his reasons which I understand (and would probably agree with had Cummings admitted his error) but I don’t accept given the total lack of acknowledgement of any wrongdoing
Not much I can do though until next election and even then he will comfortably get in again even if the Tories have a nightmare

    The Government has sunk to depths that I didn't think possible. WIthout going into the wrongs and wrongs of what Cummings did, look at what it has led to;

    - Gove suggesting on LBC radio that he has previously driven to check whether his eyesight is good enough for driving (This is our equivalent of Trump's bleach)
    - Whately completely tying herself in knots when asked what should people do, if contacted by tracers and asked to isolate, but felt they had childcare issues
    - Johnson gagging the scientific experts during the press briefing

The point about Whately is the most worrying. They cannot give clear guidance to people for an issue which will have been more common than they would want us to believe.

Perhaps a sign of how low the bar is set, Govt will see avoiding a second spike as a vindication of how they have handled a crisis which has led to 37,000+ deaths, plus an estimated 13k extra excess deaths, and still going at a rate of around 250-300 per day. Basically saying "as long as you stagger your deaths, we've done well".

Question time last night was almost funny if it wasn’t so serious. Whatley absolutely realised the stupidity of her position but couldn’t bring herself to say it.

the message was trying to get across was totally lost in the absurdity of the situation. That situation caused by Dominic Cummins and doubled down by Johnson and the cabinet.
