Shotton struggled a bit early on But he got better and was helped when Anderson came on to provide more cover.
They certainly were the better team in the middle of the park But they were a long way short of the best footballing side I've ever seen.
The best footballing side you have ever seen? God you don't get out much then do you??
They did play some very nice football but not the best i have ever seen

RE: They certainly were the better team in the middle of the park It was a little bafling that Hallfredsson played right midfield at start of second half. We all agreed Anderson on for Doyle but ten mins earlier that he did. Think Robins realised his 451 at start of second half was suicidal after 5 mins.
Don't you watch much football then? The best footballing side of all time was Notts Forest under Clough. I would like to have seen the Dutch side of the 70s though.
With hindsight... ....it's easy to say that they couldn't finish. At the time it didn't seem like that. Certainly, all around me - the Hoyland Reds, were all biting their nails. With respect , Donny always looked threatening. Now the game is over, you can say, well, they never looked like scoring. Under pressure, live, it was certainly a different feeling. We won, so what the hell. YooooooooooooooooooooooooouReds!
They created quite a few but fluffed them. I suppose it comes from watching BFC over the years, you always think that we are going to 'blow it', you know what I mean? The feeling under Robins is that we might be moving away from that scenario, but it's hard to let it go after years and years and years.
Easy to say with hindsight.... ...at the time it didn't seem like that. They always looked as if they might 'nick' a goal.
Swansea - never felt threatened by their hopeless finishing. Donny another case- always felt that they could nick a goal. Maybe because it was a local derby and I so wanted us to beat them.
Give Over The stuff we played under Wilson in the promotion season was miles better than what they played Saturday.
Shotton? I mustve watched a different game. He was outstanding, their main creative player Woods didnt get a look in and its Shotton constantly covering for Foster and Moore that is the main reason we're not conceding as many goals. he's the complete package - height, pace, reads the game, puts his foot in and a decent long throw. Based on what I've seen, whatever we make out of the Man U game should be thrown at Stoke to get him on a permanent deal. Not convinced by Dickinson or Doyle mind.
Tackled reasonbly well and won plenty of headers but almost every header, clearance or pass found a "where's wally" shirt. He's not far off the complete package though with pace. I'd love it, just love it if we could sign him permanently. Even a loan for the season would be very good.
