Not sure how true it is but I got told that it’s a mild concussion, he hit his head on the moon when he stepped out of his Hummer.

My thoughts exactly, Horsham debacle was public knowledge within days, some right conspiracists about, can't have an injury these days without someone coming up with some tosh.

Farnham Red made the joke on here on one of the other threads about Pines. It seems to have come from there...

I think hitting his head on the moon is more plausible than some of the other bunkem

If they had just said he's got a hamstring issue and will be out for about a month, people would have accepted it. That we are being cagey about time frame and the issue it's bound to start conspiracy theories based on our FA Cup mistake. We've also a long history of making out someone will be back soon and then not see them for ages or they stop being spoken of. Club have dug themselves an hole by not being more transparent.

Doug has just tweeted that he's a chance to be back for the Easter games - but didn't say the nature of the injury.

After the Connell stuff at the start of the season I'd be inclined to just leave the conspiracies tbf - you never know if it's anything personal.

Do we have a long history of making out that somebody will be back soon and not seen them for ages? Or have people always referred to Cauley Woodrow's "2 weeks" from 5 years ago, whenever a player isn't back in the exact timeframe that has been put out?

Have we ever had an unexplained absence that resulted in a player being deported before?

If the manager decides he doesn't want to release what the injury is then that's that.
We are at the business end of the season, sometimes it's fine margins that make the difference and if Neil Collins wants to keep a lid on it as to not give away physiological boosts to rivals then that's fine.
He's injured ,we'll cope, but we don't need a sky sports ticker on everything at the club.
Regarding the FA Cup we've played in it 100 odd plus years, that scenario happened once, they put their hands up it was a costly error but its unfair to class it as a history of bad calls.

I remember pretty much every match Simon Davey would say someone was injured and wouldn't play only for them to be named in the starting line up. For some bizarre reason he kept doing it.

No it wasn't public knowledge, we were waiting ages for ticket news for Sutton. Fans had booked trains and hotels.

Trying to imagine what difference it would make to the morale and tactics of any of our upcoming opposition if a centre half they've never heard of plays or doesn't play against them. I can't think of one. Can someone help me out?

I get your point, but I suppose tactically Pines offers something a bit different to Jordan Williams in the back 3.
Would you play Cosgrove or Cole against him? Just keeps opponents guessing.

Which League 1 centre half is available to the opposition would not influence my choice of strikers in any way at all.
