Blimey, that's a nice welcome. I'm very well thank you. I have been keeping up to date by logging on, but haven't been particularly active. Are you at Uni now, or did I imagine that. Or was it so long ago that you've already qualified and are now top of whatever it was you were going to do.

I hope you are all well, particularly Laura.

PS. I've only come back in order to petition for a state funeral in acknoweldgement of my services to the BBS circa 1998*

And so the police thought it was ok to stop any vehicle travelling south on the M1 containing a few blokes, and ask where they were going and, if they refused to say, they arrested them.
There was one case of a group travelling to a court date in Nottingham for earlier picketing and being arrested because they refused to tell the police where they were going, only that they weren't going picketing and that it had nothing to do with the police.

I was working at Barnsley council at the time, doing a lot of night shifts that finished at 4 or 5 in teh morning, I was routinely stopped on my way home and asked where I was going and where I'd been. It was turning into a police state.

    Still at Hull Uni, mate

Laura's constant illnesses are now due to her anti rejection medication she has to take. But she'll get there.

If the mines were still open today, they'd be worked by Polish miners anyway. Barnsley would still be a town of druggies, dole scum and lifetime benefit claimants.

    Discuss.

That article is so good I've copied it into word so I will never be able to forget the Tyrany of the Grantham Witch.

There was so much Police violence, not just against miners, but against law biding males minding their own business, which went unreported and was covered up.

Probably Kev, cos according to a certain poster on here the fact that you have worked and paid into a pension, planned for the future and continued your education you are also a CONSERVATIVE. Apparently, cos I'm only working class I'm a feckless workshy spendthrift who never planned for the future.

if the pits were still open today they would be staffed by local lads same as they always were,as older ones retired young ones took their place, thats how it was,,,,,the druggies, dole scum and lifetime benefit claimants came after thatcher had shut the pits,,,all the ex industrial areas are now full of druggies, dole scum and lifetime benefit claimants,,all as a direct result of the thatcher government shutting all our major industries down....and it wasnt about economics,it was about putting the unions and the working class back in their place......its cost far more to close all the industry than it ever did to keep them open..

Sorry mate, I apologise for that slur, just after I hit reply I got this image of a rather large angry gentleman in a leotard walking up the path, believe me, I went into a cold sweat just thinking about it. :nails::nails::nails::nails:

Anyway, I can't be well educated

As I've lived all my life in my home town. According to some, this means I'm incapable of truly understanding politics (for example), as I can't reason issues properly and only vote Labour because my parents did. If only I was clever enough to leave Barnsley, I could be patronising and condescending to all who stayed, because I'd obviously be a better person than them.
I'll have to be content with being inferior, ill educated and insignificant.:)
