thanks for clearing that up. I think i have changed my mind because letting Kell go on loan could mean Nicky Wroe will start on saturday. He doesnt have enough qualiy to replace the likes of Mcpahil but when Mcpahil is back and Kell comes back of loan we have 4 quality central midfielders. Loan signings are the key and we can always bring someone in if we need them. Also dont forget Ritchie and Shepherd have brought in Heckingbottom and Wright in this transfer window. Well done to them.
I just think that genuine chances of promotion come along so very rarely that you've got to take advatage of them when they do. In my lifetime of watching BFC (over 25 years) we've had 5 genuine chances of being promoted. We achieved it 3 times, missed out in the play-off final once, while the best team I've ever seen would have been promoted in 81-82 had they beaten Norwich instead of losing. I believe we missed out that season when we failed to replace Parker when he was crocked and we didn't have adequate cover for Glavin who spent a good deal of that season injured. I don't want to see us miss out again because we didn't strengthen when we could have. It's all academic now like as the transfer window has shut. I really hope we don't regret not making that one extra signing.
I'm just glad that this year the doom and gloomers are moaning because we havent signed anyone, other then the performances on the pitch which has happened for last 6 years.
You are almost certainly correct in saying that loan signings could be the answer. However, it isn't just the signing that's important, it's the timing of that signing. You can't just sign a player, either an experienced or inexperienced one and expect him to go straight into the team and perform like a world beater, it takes time. There has to be a settling in period to allow everyone to get used to each other. If we are to get the best results at the end of the season, THE TIME IS NOW. As for the Kell situation. Do you really believe that Conference football will prepare him for a return to League 1 football, better than reserve team football would? I personally don't think so.
I am not disagreeing with you I just wondered if things are not always in our power to control. But I take your point that does not match with what Ritchie said
