That was kept under wraps well. I had no idea. With the cult following he had here there'd be autograph hunters everywhere.
Must have been sneaking around in a disguise. Certain fans of ours on Twitter like to hang around the training ground for photos so I'm shocked none of them have spotted him.
No that was big Val. We'd boot it towards the corner flag and get right up to half way and to be fair, for the most part teams didn't know how to counter it.
Didn't we used to deliberately boot the ball into touch deep into the opponents' half to give them a throw-in we could then press? Seems bizarre now....
Theres plenty of time to pre-season to announce it. However the risk of waiting is the top targets get picked off by other clubs and before you know it your on your 4th or 5th choice. For me it needs to be done asap now. Plenty of time then to settle and look at targets.
I think the article maybe incorrect, I'm sure he's been doing some coaching for one of Villas young teams.
What makes you so confident about that? He hasn't worked over here for over 3 years and has been effectively coaching a reserve side in Germany.
I can't find the link to the guidance now (someone posted it on here when Thalhammer was linked) but essentially, Germany is Tier 1 and Austria is Tier 4 (I think) on the scoring system, so the requirements for a work permit are very different.
He's been coaching freelance for both our u15s and villas u15s. Whilst he's been here he's also been gaining his coach badges.
Yep it was the old styles diagonal pass used to mean the opposite wing back would usually head to our player or end up with the ball going out for a throw in on the far side and would allow our players to pen them in.
There'll be some favorable statistic about number of goals from turnover in the final third of the pitch which probably makes this a perfectly valid tactic if you are prepared to press correctly.
The GBE guidance is a minimjum of 3 yrs as Head coach/manager in category 1 to 5 league (or 2 years continuous). However I dont think Hanover 96 II are in a category 1-5 league. So he has to have 3 years with us , Hearts and Nancy and others in a 1-5 cat.
Stendel would unite the fan base . Connor would unite the dressing room. I would applaud these appointments . The football at Oakwell home games. Not away games, as been extremely disappointing this season. We need bums on seats at kick off, and bums off seats during games ,which sadly as not been often. Derby Bolton apart.
Would certainly be 2 fan favourites back if this happens. Would love to see Conor back here. He may not be able to hit the levels he did in his previous stint but his quality would still come through, in my opinion. Stendel would bring his passion and (hopefully) high press back. Get a couple of shrewd signings in and you never know what could happen.
He managed Hannover first team for almost a full year, did 16 months with us, 6 months with Hearts and 2 months with Nancy. That adds up to just about 3 years so he should be fine for a permit?
