Quality facts there, I like them.

Do you know how many of that number are signings and how many are re-signings? We know at Barnsley that we have offered 4 players new contracts. Whether a player chooses to sign or chooses to leave, I don't think it makes the club any quieter. The club have done their part of the negotiations, they can't force anyone sign. In the case of Dawson, I think there was a huge sigh of relief from the majority of fans when he chose not to sign. Of the others, I think opinion is split, but I don't think it will be the end of the world if we end up without any of them. Personally, I like O'Brien, but I wouldn't try to argue he's a brilliant player. I just like his attitude, commitment and effort.

It would be interesting to read how many genuine new signings league 1 clubs have made, how many league 1 clubs have made these signings and what that averages out at per club.

 

Serious question - do you REALLY want to know the signings (not re-signings) of every L1 club?

I'll have that info with you by 3.30pm at the latest.

 

I don't care who they are, just how many there have been. It'll give us an idea if we're being particularly quiet, if we're being left behind, or if we're in pretty much the same boat as most other clubs.

11 clubs with 2 or more signings

4 clubs with just the one signing

We're being left behind by some. Crawley, Gillingham, Notts County and Sheff Utd have been busy. On the other hand, 13 of the 24 clubs have just 4 signings between them.

Clearly we're not doing as much business as some clubs, but there are many in the same boat as us. Having said that, I doubt most of those 13 have a current playing staff as small as ours. Dunno, there have been more transfers than I thought, but at the same time a lot of clubs have been as quiet as us.

And you're reight, ex- Barnsley and Premier League players aside, I haven't heard of any of them.

 

I only listed them (I'd planned to anyway) because it backed up my own opinion, and that's that folk are bairning over nowt.

Think you've stated elsewhere on the board today that things will heat up after the World Cup in terms of recruitment. I'd say that n all, with bells on.

 

It's mad isn't it. People are moaning that we haven't signed as many players as other League One clubs, yet if we had signed any of those players ourselves they'd be moaning that we'd signed lower league rubbish that we've never heard of. It's an argument we just can't win. In fact, some of them have set their position out in such a way and using such daft logic that I'm starting to think that my missus posts on here under several different names.
