I bet Harry Isted has his agent on speed-dial this morning.

I don't feel any vitriol or bitterness, if he is going he leaves with the club in a far better place than he found it which will make our next hero's task much easier. For that he deserves our best wishes and eternal gratitude.
What I will feel, however, is a sense of huge disappointment in being let down by someone who seems just that bit different to the rest, a man of integrity whose word can be trusted. I still cling to the hope that he actually is the real deal...but we shall see.

Russell Martin is currently the manager of Swansea and not been announced to the saints yet. Theirs still alot to be done.

Why would the Plymouth guy take the Swansea job? They're in the same division and they're on the crest of a wave with 2 promotions in a short space of time. He's probably thinking he could do the same as Luton and Coventry. Meanwhile, Swansea are on their way back down after flirting with the PL. After we beat them in the play offs they went on an upward path but now, like Wigan, they're on their way to where they belong. Can't see them up near the top but time will tell.

IF it did happen I’d be very disappointed with the club for even entertaining the idea, I can accept selling players to help raise funds to better the club but I can’t wrap my head around any benefits of selling a successful manager.

The squads spent 1,000s of hours learning his system, players and back room staff have moved here/agreed to stay to work under him, thousands of fans have purchased STs thinking he’d be here, no amount of compensation is worth undoing that. IF we don’t win promotion this season then this decision will be top of the list as to why.

A player you can replace, it’ll take the replacement time but it’s just one player that needs to get up to speed, with a manager it’s the whole squad that needs to re-learn a new system

It should have been a firm no, hes going nowhere and if Duff complains, let’s say he wants to be closer to home, then remind him he agreed to stay here for 3 years, that the club have invested a year into him, and we expect him to honour that, what’s he going to do sulk about it and ruin his career, he’s not a player who can hide in the under 21s, he’d have to say fair enough and work his socks off to make sure a similar offer is waiting for him when his contract expires.

It just dosnt make any sense to even entertain an offer for him

He will have a release clause fee in his contract we can do nothing about.

This post is typical of the inaccuracies being posted about our managerial situation ..... its 'there's' not 'theirs' :p

If that’s the case then there’s nothing to complain about, I’ve not read that anywhere but it could be

Based on what we know about Duff do you really think he’s going to throw the teddy out and not apply himself? Imagine the damage that would do to his reputation.

He agreed to a 3 year project, it’s on him, the club would be just protecting their investment and the whole fan base would be right behind them

Both Struber and Ismael left us with their release clauses being met. Russell Martin has one at Swansea.

I'd imagine the vast majority of managers, including Duff, are under the same circumstances in this day and age. It's not very often you hear of clubs being refused permission to speak to managers anymore.

Ike dreamboy says he has a release clause in his contract. I'm not a fan on stopping anyone player or coach going if they want to. He said it's a long term project on numerous occasions even after Wembley if he really thinks that it will be a hard choice to make as Plymouth manager has already turned them down and its not a club I'd expect to be pushing for promotion to the premier league.

It does seem somewhat unprofessional of Swansea to be openly recruiting a new manager when they have one still in post

Your most likely right, it would make more sense and be easier to stomach, the thought of the board agreeing to this to either cash in or because Duff has asked to leave would be very disappointing

If it truly is 'a game for the fans' then maybe it is time that managers were subject to the transfer window too?

But it's not a game for the fans; it's a game for money-men!!

A transfer window for managers wouldn't make a difference as we'd be getting Duff poached in the same window as we poached him from somewhere else.

It is Monday morning. The simple solution for BFC/Duff to end the speculation, if it is the case that he's staying, is to put out a one line statement to that effect.
The simple fact they/he have/has not done so, gives the rumours and speculation that he is considering such a move and negotiations are ongoing, credibility. It is not a case of 'don't burn your bridges' if he was, as he claimed, 100% committed to seeing the project through to the end.
