Pretty much. Officially, no. In reality, clubs aren't offering to trigger a release clause, unless they know the individual is agreed as well.
Bit of a leap to suggest Swansea are acting illegally off the back of some vague wording in a newspaper story.
Exactly how I see it, presumably we'll be drawing up a list of replacements and announcements will be made when Duff goes or the deal falls through.
I'd be extremely disappointed if the club haven't also held "Informal talks" with a potential replacement already. Yano, so we take the same stance. Or we just gunna wait and wait until it's confirmed he's gone, then waste half the summer on a new replacement while everyone else starts signing players we should be spending time on recruiting. Groundhog Day strikes again
I'd like to think that we've sounded out the possibility/affordability of Wilder or Moore, both available and proper managers that could easily fill Duff's boots if he goes.
But it gives a very strong indication that something is happening, as they're unable to talk about it. The only way I envisage Duff staying now is if the ongoing negotiations break down at some point in the chain. I just hope they're moving heaven and hell to persuade Darren Moore to replace him as part of all the background movement. Sad as I'd be to see Duff leave, I'd be more than happy if Moore came in.
Think your're being a tad naive mate .. or just grasping at straws, regarding people can only talk when they are offically allowed to.
I think there are some people who won't believe he's gone until they turn up for a game and someone else is in the dugout.
I mentioned on here a few months back that the loyalty aspect was nonsense. Ultimately his loyalty wouldn’t have been tested at Burnley. He was battling to survive with Burnley in the premier league every year but wasn’t good enough to be an attractive signing to clubs further up the league & at the same time there’s not going to be championship clubs who are going to offer him more money than he was on in the prem with Burnley. It’s not like a Mads Anderson for example who’s a standout player in a side at least a division below where his talent suggests he should be playing who can get more money elsewhere. Duff was playing at the highest level he was ever going to on the most money he was ever going to get. There was no upward steps from where he was.
