    Cheltenham journalist stated that none of the backroom team would be following Duff to Barnsley. Cheltenham were criticised for their silence on Duff being granted permission to speak to Barnsley and Blackpool, so it's plausible they've leaked it to the press before we did, as the contract isn't officially signed.

    Imagine we would want to announce it with images of Duff at Oakwell. Possibly tomorrow then? Cheltenham were clever not to mention us in their statement.

    I am sure it is a done deal given he has been confirmed at the ground and stuff yesterday, but does make you wonder what the hold up is with actually announcing it. Hopefully he is worth the wait.

    Just a thought, but Barnsley can’t control what Cheltenham put out. And Cheltenham haven’t officially announced that he’s leaving, just that he’s informed them he wants to explore a new opportunity.

    Sometimes deals are agreed in principle but you need some final time together to move everything to the signing stage. If Cheltenham had waited then maybe we wouldn’t have as many questions? But after the criticism they received for not saying anything, they were probably trying to appease supporters in line with what the local journalists were being informed (likely from internal sources).

    It’s obviously happen, but would be foolish of us to comment when there’s a full announcement due anytime between now and the end of the week.

    The list of speculative reasons for the delay would be as long as your arm. Hopefully the announcement and future interviews will clarify everything for us, but no need to panic right now.

    They have officially announced he has left - https://www.ctfc.com/news/2022/june/club-statement-michael-duff/

    It says in the statement that their search for a new manager is underway and that he leaves with their best wishes. To me that is a strong confirmation that he has left, there is no way he goes back to them now after that given they are now actively seeking his replacement.

    Something weird has happened with this deal, a lot has been leaked out which has lead to many questions etc. The Cheltenham journo has leaked so much stuff way before anyone up here had any news and then Cheltenham themselves have posted 2 days ago saying he has gone before the deal is fully done. I am sure it will be sorted within a day or two as there is a lot to sort out with these things but not sure why they put that statement out way before ours. I know they didn't name us specifically, but still think they should have waited until it was all signed off.
