As we know, teams do differ from last season. Look at Swansea. Look at us. Edit: and there is currently one team still in the division who finished above us. So it's logically flawed too.
So basically you had made your mind up before a ball has been kicked , so no amount of debate is going to alter your thought , well thats fine but at least some consideration for the fact we are missing an awful lot of our squad with injuries, illness, red tape & suspensions & these should be taken into account , I for one have my doubts about Schopp but I do have the good grace to allow him time & hopefully a better squad to choose from & what ever happens I will not be jumping on here at the first opportunity shouting " I told you so " like some wonderful 21st century prophet .
Not sure about that as a fair assessment. We had four great chances in total. Some of the diagonal balls second half were brilliant and a well overdue sign that we wanted to play with some width. We completely dominated the last 30 minutes of the first half. The majority of the second, but conceded the impetus at the start and end of the second half. We played the neater stuff, but as is par for the course at the minute rarely threatened.
Considering we dominated the midfield battle in the last 30 minutes of that half, I’d say Brittain and Gomes did a decent job. The options for our players to pass to when they have the ball are non-existent. It’s not the quality of our forward players that needs to improve its their movement. We’re like statues and play the game like we’re in a phone box once we get near goal - which is different to how we are when playing out from the back. We spread it quickly and go wide.
After the excitement of Wednesaday today did feel flat but the second half we were much better, just the usual problem with finishing. I thought we were ok, a bit concerned to see Morris walking around the perimeter with that brave still on, looks like we may have to wait longer than I'd hoped to get him back into the team.
I thought we looked ok, without being especially good. Should’ve won the game. No problem with brittain in midfield, thought him and Gomes were decent enough, Gomes was unlucky at times before being taken off, played the ball to Woodrows feet, but woodrow ran away from the space a couple of times. Victor was a whisker away from putting Heliks header in (I was in the away end and had a decent view of it). But ultimately, I’m now fairly certain we’ll be in a relegation scrap. Who’s going to score the goals to turn these draws into wins?
Dominated. You watch a different game to me. We tap it around at the back. Wait for all their defence to get back into position. The opposition narrows the space so someone launches it hopefully up front. Woodrow who moved 5 minutes earlier is now isolated. movement needs to be better. Transition from defence to attack much quicker. it was a terrible game. Probably 2/10. Luckily they were as bad as us. It’s early days and only after Christmas will the league take shape. At the minute we look porous at the back and incapable of scoring. At the minute it’s fair to say we have taken a massive step backwards. But there’s plenty of time to go. Don’t think pretending we are playing like the 1970s Dutch team in midfield helps anyone. Main plus point was Brittain playing in his correct position and the new lad who was great second half. .
Definitely you were at a different oakwell to me. Dreadful game. 2 awful teams. Plenty of time to improve.
it's not a case of accepting it or not, but not going down the route of being overly dramatic. We were right in defence, we created chances but we tailed to take them. I just happen to think we will win games, we just need a little patience. Btw, the mighty WAS have had the same points as us in their games this week!
Jesus wept. Bit of a gargantuan leap from any comment I’ve seen posted today. The word ‘decent’ means something completely different to you it seems. Agree on a lot of your points by the way, but personally thought it was far better than 2/10 and I’d fully expect us to go backwards comparing to last season when you reel off the starting line up. Our three CBs today kept a clean sheet. Despite being Helik, Halme and Moon. Hats off to them. They played well.
Well I thought we played well, contained them to 3 attempts on goal & if we were clinical then job done. Dull & lifeless? Not having it, I thought it was a great game & I could quote probably 100's of games that have been far. far worse.
