No chance. The world class players they can afford won't sign for a club that doesn't have Champions League Football. Look at how Man City had to gradually build up. It wasn't an instant thing.
Don't think this is strictly true. Bruno went there, he's bordering world class, if not already. I think players who have never played in the champions league are desperate for it, but those who have played in it aren't that fussed. Either way, Newcastle can just outspend anyone. Manchester united don't have champions league football either, they can still attract. Same with Arsenal. Money talks. Look when Schmeichel, Campbell and Sven joined Notts county. Genuinely excellent players will join Newcastle. Seems they're tempting Botman over Ac Milan already
In my opinion, yes. I think Eddie Howe is a good coach, and whilst maybe not elite level, I think he should have them challenging the top 4 if they spend £200m+ this summer. Say he'd have been in charge of the City side which signed Adebayor, Robinho etc that summer they first splashed the cash. It would have been a failure for them to have finished anywhere outside the top 4. Looking at who they've signed so far, I think they're on for mid-table at present. The names they're linked with too don't inspire much confidence of a European push. That being said, if they uncover the next Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Aguero, then who knows.
Over the last 20 games of the Season Newcastle were 3rd in the form league with 38 points only Liverpool & Man City beat them with 48 & 46 points respectively. He clearly deserves credit for turning them round. That said top 4 will be tough as I think Spurs will be one of the 4 leaving 1 spot for Newcastle to contend with Chelsea, Arsenal & Man U.
Surely they’ll be just top half ? Compare their current side man to man with any of the top fours and would they have any preferred players ? It’ll take a few years to even challenge the top six by which time they may have changed 90% of the current players.
