Re: Totally signed Superb response from the BBS. Over 60 signatures just from this message board. I too fear for them in many ways. It's sad that since City have all the U.A.E. money pumped into them most of stockport has turned light blue. They have a proud tradition. It's all about the fans, whatever club you support. BBS has shown some solidarity. Something I'll be telling a couple of County mates I have proudly. Hope our action has some result.
Signed...............as for Dreamy....exactly the same response when support for Blackpool fans was mentioned on here a while back......head in the sand...........I'm alright Jack...............
Fair point, but they still get a couple of thousand usually watching 6th flight football. When we used to play them there'd be pushing 7000 (usually 1500 or so from us). In the 70s when Leeds & the two Sheffield clubs were doing well we were luck to get 4000. Only the arrival of ex Leeds man Alan Clarke turned that round ... ended in about 18000 at the Grimsby promotion match if I remember correct.
Just shy of 22,000 for that game a then record for that division broken by dem blunts a few years later. Signed
More than I thought then. I was only 15 at the time, but had been watching every home match for 5 years & a few aways. Been chatting with 2 Liverpool mates on FB (who signed the petition too). I was sat in the Kop with them when we won in the Prem & they came to Oakwell too. Top lads & proper football fans.
PS I've passed on to Leeds, Liverpool, Sheff Weds fans, please share with anyone you know who is on rival boards to spread the word. Makes yo thankful we have a benefactor at Oakwell who loves the club.
What do the owners say? Normally when something like this happens the owner will give assurances of a new ground but I can't find any
That is nowhere near correct. The record for the 4th Divison was for the Good Friday game at Selhurst Park between Crystal Palace and Millwall in 1960/61 when 37,774 turned up. The highest average league attendance in the Fourth Division was 19,092, achieved by Crystal Palace in the 1960/61 season. Neither us nor Blunts got anywhere near that.
Exactly we don't know both sides of the story to give an unbiased view of the full story. As a fellow wrestling fan you know you shouldn't be so quick to judge a situation as when Chris Benoit got his tribute night before full facts came to light
Panic Over hopefully I've been involved quite a lot with this whole sorry saga - was thinking about writing a piece on it for WSB next issue. Anyway - here's the upshot which came out last night - should hopefully be good news for County: http://www.stockport.gov.uk/newsroom/edgeleypark
Update: Victory! Jun 24, 2015 — It's a unanimous 'YES'. The council will now be making an unconditional offer to buy the ground. News that the recommendation by the SMBC Group Leaders to buy EP has been accepted.
