It was in an article in Yorkshire Post - players linked or could come to us. He was one of them. Speculation.
3.players.oot of contract at the end of this month will free up wages then we'll sign what we need marc roberts been 1 of em
Highly doubt there's anything to it but would like to see him back. I was really excited when we got him first time around but don't think we ever saw the best of him as we never seemed to fully play to his strengths. Him up top alongside Cosgrove sounds good. With us being a bit more urgent and getting ball into box for him to feed off he'd score plenty
He's had talks... But, he has had talks with other clubs too. He's 32 in July so probably looking for the best deal possible.
That Yorkshire post article is merely betting odds. I'm not sure which bookie you can use to bet on signings, but they're not player rumours, though I've often seen names on it being peddled as a rumour.
He's still under contract with them so would command a fee (unless they pay him off) which I really don't see happening. https://southwarknews.co.uk/sport/football/millwall/bradshaw-contract-extension/
No idea why people trott out this silly manta.. it actually works the other way round.. The good signing, the prize assets are snapped up early doors.. The meh signings come second who are just waiting for the best deals from their agents.. Then you get the pro's who have no intention of signing early preseason because they hate the training.. and never make the opening game's Then last if all.. the trialists who like the 'meh' would sign anywhere as long as they can get a deal.. Oh almost forgot last but not least, but they can turn out to be the best.. the loans who normally land right at the end of the window
Maybe makes sense for free agents but it’s been said multiple times that we have had bids in for players. Good players aren’t going to have their bids accepted straight away unless the bid is way over the top, and clearly we’ll never bid way over the top. Also, with free agents they’ll have multiple offers so will mull over them rather than jump at the first opportunity, unless they don’t back themselves. So maybe you think it’s a silly mantra, but I’d disagree. Also, your last sentence contradicts what you’ve said previously. Best players get snapped up straight away but also best loan players are at the end of the window. Which is it then? Early or late?
There's no 'silly mantra' whatever one thinks. Its totally dependant on the club being effective in the market whether that's waiting, possibly for players that they genuinely think are waiting for, or diving in to get someone they believe is really good but could come here first. No rights and wrongs about it at all. Depends on the club's focus, intent, clout at time of bid and canniness in the market. The only judgement that can genuinely be made is after all activity is over. Have we got a good squad or a crappy one in Aug?
Exactly. There’s no “one size fits all” with timings of signings with the earlier being the better players. Otherwise Rovrum have signed the galacticos reincarnated! As long as we have some good quality in the matchday squad and have sufficient cover for every position, we’ll be good. That could be wishful thinking on my part, I guess we’ll soon see.
