I'm a distributor for UW (dormant, not done much for a while) and had a text to today that they are no longer offering the current fixed tariff from 5pm today in light of the £100b rumours. They must surely know something behind the scenes to stop the fixed tariff as customers would be paying over the odds for a year if they fix now with a price freeze coming

I'm no particular fan of Brewdog's owner or its recent business practices, but I'd be very surprised if, given the amount of works required to outfit that bar, there hasn't been a lease or agreement for lease in place since before the current costs issues really started.

So even if Brewdog had decided not to open the bar it would be contractually liable for rent anyway, and not opening would have made no sense whatsoever.

Which is what I tried to explain in my earlier post on it. Initial conversations happened at the start of 2021 (the first site visits might have been before then after Timeout London pulled out of their model market project), and accelerated once we came out of lockdowns and restrictions, to the point we signed around August/September last year. A future energy crisis like this wasn't on the horizon at that point, but not only would backing out be financial suicide and against the terms agreed, it would also mean handing back the hundreds of jobs created.

There's also nothing wrong with a multi-site operator closing sites that are losing money and continuing to open sites that will make money. Especially when the net result on jobs created is a positive. The other part to highlight here is that all BrewDog bars now operate a 50/50 profit share with the teams that work in them, so if this site performs as it's suggesting it will, then not only will all the team be paid a real living wage, they've got an opportunity to be rewarded in a way no other hospitality business offers.

Be interested to have a non-BBS chat on 'recent business practices' to understand what your perception/opinion is vs. the reality. Always good to hear how some things have landed with people outside the industry in the real world.

Felt sorry for Martin Lewis having to also keep explaining the "Price cap" doesn't actually mean a cap on what you can pay.

Not really relevant to this thread but what happened in the end with the 'scandal' of bullying etc at brewdog? Did it
Ok then sign me up for the thicko class. What do you mean?
I feel like I most likely do know what you mean but my brain has gone to sleep again. Plus it sounds like a reminder isn't a bad idea anyway

Brewdog chief James Watt accused of inappropriate behaviour https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-59957485

Here you go matey boy. Enjoy who you work for. At least own it. Now haven’t you got some fans to half heartedly represent? Weird that so many people take issue with you. Obviously just them not you at all. I try to avoid threads with you due to your continual arguing and pathetic attempts at belittling people. But if you but if you’d like to look at each article and offer a reasonable explanation of each one please do so.

Personally speaking I’d rather not drink in establishments run by people like him and hope people boycott them out of existence.

Has anyone had any dealings with Eon/Eon next? I was paying by direct debit & it took them almost a year to divert payments to Eon Next. Eon sent me a letter saying they need to refund me & to call a number, which just sends me around the houses to the new firm Eon Next. I reckon they have about a grand of my money, but it's proving impossible to get it back. My present account is in credit & I wouldn't mind if they just transferred it over to bump it up & get me ahead before the new charges kick in.
I think I'll call the Jeremy Vine show next time Grace Blakely is on. If I can keep my tongue in my gob, that is..

Really interesting how you ignore 95% of the content in my replies to you and just attempt the jabs. I mean you pull the punches from all kinds of directions, I'll give you that, and at least you're consistent with trying to deliver them. Given how open I am about working for BrewDog, what am I not owning exactly?

You've shared some accusations, but you haven't shared anything that's proven as actual fact or that has come from people who work for BrewDog right now have you? It's also pretty much aimed at an individual, and that individual does not make the company. Also ignores a million and one things that BrewDog have done over the years, and are doing right now, that elevate them above not just companies in the same sector of the market, but companies globally. It's a great place to work, but has made mistakes when growing a rate of knots beyond anyone's wildest aspirations. Phenomenal growth without having an infrastructure to match. Thankfully that's starting to align much better now.

As for the continuous 'half hearted' digs. Those are a bit boring as half hearted will always be far more than you're doing for supporters and the town, and I'm super comfortable with that and can take the criticism on the chin. I'm also not sure who the 'so many' are, when it's a pretty small list and you've got far more falling outs on here. The alert button doesn't get pushed for me as much as you Jimmy Boy.

At least you're enjoying away games this season. Allegedly.

Haven't Brew Dog just opened a massive gaff in Waterloo? Thinking it might be on the site of a pub we went to after Wembley semi in 08? When we decorated a snoozing Hicksy in lipstick.. :)

Lipstick and an 'I love LUFC' face tattoo.

It's in a new development where the Eurostar used to be. Not on the 'Hole in the Wall' side. I couldn't support it if that pub would have had to make way.

No Problem possum. You have zero interest in your fellow workers. You gloss over serous allegations.

Sounds like a great place to work for all those bullied. You are happy working for a bully. Fits your profile I guess.

The messages I get from people you attempt to bully are pretty numerous but they know nothing will be done.

Currently setting up a community fridge having volunteered at Food bank for years not as important as sucking Khlaid off I agree but you know small steps.

Anyhow I am sticking you back on ignore given other than defending bullies you have little of import to say. I

A lot of people think their direct debit amount is their monthly bill, like how they pay £30 a month to Vodafone for their phone contract, they pay £100 a month to EDF for their energy. They don’t realise that their bill is actually usage x £kwh.

They also think the price cap is the maximum that they’ll pay when in fact it’s the maximum they’ll pay if they use the ‘typical’ amount of energy.

It's a bit much to have a pop at someone and then self righteously stick them on ignore when they try to defend themselves.

That whole post is an embarrassment mate. The digs have been one sided for months, probably longer, and you've just behaved like an 'adult' and made the gross comment regarding the CEO.

The way you turn it personal each and every time, feels like a retaliation to losing any mature discussion around a subject. Happy to be over and out on this one as there's no come back to the above at all.

you may think that it’s fine to discuss with those who excuse the abuse of workers. I don’t wish to dirty myself with engaging with people like that. I have no desire to convince them they are wrong to do so. Like a turd in the street I’d prefer to step round it not step in if and discuss why it’s ****.

On the price cap issue am I right in thinking that there is no (and won't be a) price cap of £3k or whatever the quoted figure was? The price cap is how much they can charge per unit and it's simply the media who have said 'ob average that means...'?

The one thing that confuses me about the direct debit is isn't the whole idea of a direct debit that they can take any amount needed in order to cover your bill? Otherwise surely it's a standing order if it's fixed at the agreed amount regardless? If that's the case then how do people get in front or behind?
