RE: I don't care how bad Lampard and Gerrard were...

He did the same against Brazil - brought Owen Hargreaves on...

long ping to the right hand side

that is his role. like it or not that is what beckham does. he cant do it to the left hand side because rooney hasnt got pace like SWP. beckham is a player who puts balls into space for players to run onto. we needed a nippy left winger too but didnt have one, that was our problem. we was playing a slow (but skilful) striker on the left wing and it meant that we had nobody down that side.

if you blame beckham for not passing to rooney then why werent the other two midfielders doing it instead? because they all know its not rooneys strong point.

erm, because Beckham wasn't passing to anyone but SWP. I've watched the game with several friends and everyone said the same. We even had a sweep going round (ten pence in a pot everytime Beckham passed it, when it went left or to Gerrard and lampard the holder kept the contents.) First person got £3.40, second £2.20, third 40p, Fourth £2.60.
try it when we lose to Austria.

    RE: hang on

To say that one player is behind a change in the formation is
    1. To do a great disservice to the manager to suggest he would do such a thing anyway.
    2. To do a disservice to the player who is the captain to suggest that he wouldn't be thinking of the team
    3. Doesn't give much credit to the rest of the team to think they'd accept it.

I thought we played well in first half, after 20 mins I said it was only a matter of time before we scored. Beckham and Wright-Phillips were excellent in the first half, we were going at their defence, running at them. Don't know what changed at half time but that finished.
Also if you are going to lambast Beckham - look at the way he handled Rooney when the lad was starting to lose it.
