Idiots, Have to say though it sounded to me that the the booing of players taking the knee was soon drowned out by cheering. No defence either for booing of a National Anthem, I absolutely hate ours as it’s not representing of all our Nation and the tune is simply awful, but I never boo it, I just don’t sing it
Just drove to asda and heard 3 or 4 people singing about German bombers and f the ira song. They would **** themselves if the ira even sneezed at them
Cold War Steve (@Coldwar_Steve) Tweeted: https://t.co/zlj4JbIDQ2 Nicked from another forum but it appealed to my sense of humour For decades, England’s players have ignored the theory of dialectic materialism and we never won a single opening game of a European championships tournament. Can’t be a coincidence that they’ve embraced it this year and we’ve won. Solidarity comrades
Maybe, and all I said was I didn't hear it. Which I didn't and that is also a fact. So wind your fecking neck in
I completely believe you when you're so adamant you never heard it. I'm slightly curious to understand what evidence you'd need to be convinced something (not necessarily booing at a football match) did happen? There's at least five people on this thread who independently post they'd heard it and it's been widely reported on numerous media outlets.
I've watched England in two of the last four major tournaments, and to be honest the two most enjoyable games for atmosphere were against France in Donetsk when I had a locals ticket, and against Paraguay in Nizhny Novgorod when there were hardly any England fans there. I'd probably go and watch England a lot more if it weren't for a sizeable element within our fanbase which can make it quite unpleasant. Obviously I've met plenty of really decent people at England games as well, but the pond life element is definitely disproportionately high.
Why is it that people are booing taking the knee? Are they racist? Are they just fed up of the protestations of a minority? Or just saying ' OK you've made your point, we've heard, let's crack on and solve the problem?' The feeling I get is most people are aware that black people have been put upon for far too long and it needs to stop, but there is definitely a feeling that society is overcompensating through fear of being labelled racist.
Reading some of the comments from this thread makes me feel like people on here really don't like their own country. I watched it from the US, skyped my family from England, everyone had a great time. Absolutely delighted with the result and the revenge from the World Cup. Clearly all the experts "should do this, should do that, should start him, should drop him" etc etc etc were wrong. England just beat the best team in their group. First win in the opening game of any Euros I hear too? Outstanding.
Whilever football players are experiencing racism ( let's forget about the wider society for now) kneeling for 5 secs max shouldn't result in a need to boo surely? Whatever you may feel about how effective it is or otherwise.
They should be castrated, hung drawn and quartered (including the castration), knee-capped and have their fingernails pulled out. However, I do agree with you about the basic point. They're Neanderthals.
If that seemed outstanding mate, my word, you must see things that stand out with the eye of a microscope, a win yes, but akin to watching a front door warp.
The win was outstanding, I wasn't predicting an England win. If you're a futbol fan and you watch your country get their first win in the Euros by beating a good team who knocked you out of the World Cup I think that's pretty good. Someone on here said Callum Britain was better than Kyle Walker.. The crackpipe is strong.
