What do we reckon would be a good lead. ( If we manage one) Bear in mind I'm not one for studying conditions. I've never played, ( apart from school and knockabout) but enjoy watching. I rely on the experts judgement on pitch state etc. Or indeed a very good lead. ( My reasoning although nowt to back it up. Apart from how the scores are going would be 100/120 or so.)
You'd hope to eek out 300+ from here with Woakes and Robinson to come. That should be a match winning lead but by no means guaranteed. Sounds like it's flattening out a bit and you'd imagine tomorrow will be the flattest day.
Only following on text commentary but there seems to be some bewilderment about Ali's shot - seems to be universally condemned will watch it later but it sounds like it was a stupid shot to play outside a T20
Terrible shot from Ali, ten minutes before tea. We need every run we can get cos the wicket is getting better by the hour.
Awful shot. At least he put runs on the board as did Bairstow. The oval won't stay flat for long. Always late swing which the Indians don't seem able to make good use of and it'll be starting to turn tomorrow. Anything close to 100 in front and that India batting line up tends to crumble under scoreboard pressure.
Just seen that and I think you are being harsh perfectly valid shot in the circumstances just really unlucky to play it on to his stumps - guessing it kept a bit low - Ali played a silly shot, Pope just played a valid shot badly
