    well they are going to - great knock by Woakes - shame we couldnt get the lead to over 100 - thats just psycologically more daunting
    think we would all have taken a 99 run lead at 11:30 this morning though

    I meant they have to bat in that awkward period until the close. Yes I agree 100 is more emphatic but glad it puts pressure on India.

    On my way up north from the Oval and couldn’t be happier after that awful, awful start. Glad I got to see Yorkshire make some runs after losing Root late yesterday.

    Would have liked 300+ at the point Pope and Bairstow were settled, but would have taken 290 when we were 60 plus for five early doors!

    Finely poised but enough in our favour to seal a victory.

    Just watched Atherton, Hussain, and Mark Butcher discussing the roles that parents have played in their kids becoming involved in cricket. Brought back many memories of my late dad taking me with him to games and encouraging us and his grandkids to play. I've had a lifetime of enjoyment from it. I know many more family connections in cricket. Mothers also involved, real family days.
